Seems a boater was travling in the gulf of mexico
and found a cat 3 miles off shore in the
water.
The cat was rescued and is doing fine. The finder is
going to adopt the cat.
Nobody seems to know how the cat got there.

Many of the myriad fishing boats (both American and Mexican) that ply
the Gulf of Mexico have cats on board, and it is not unheard of for one
to go overboard, accidentally or otherwise. They are excellent swimmers
and could last for several hours - or longer- if the weather is right.
This was one of the lucky ones!

Hmmmm,
I have personally watched many (some 12) cats swim in open waters.
The only option is that it was dropped overboard, But I would tip the boat
would be nearby, very nearby.
Cats are swimmers by virtue of their instinct to hunt, not some kind of
training, like we have.
I suspect wackyness here...
