If it just got that way, you probably stepped on it.

Tail kinks from birth are quite common and are even considered
desirable in some Japanees breeds.  Only a vet can tell for sure if it
is an injury or not.

Yes, you would need to tell us if it was born that way or it turned up
crooked after being strait.
 I grew up on a farm and we had tons of cats. They were almost all strays
that just seemed to know where to go for love. Anyway having seen countless
litters of kittens born, many had crooked or even tails curled up in a tight
circle. I was told that sometimes this is a result of inbreeding among
brothers and sisters but I don't know for sure.

If it's always been that way don't worry. If it's a recent thing the tail
could be broken. In that case a vet visit is in order.

Caught it in a door. I had one too.

Thanks all, i feel better about the crooked tail,but i dont think i'll
ever be able to solve the mystery of why its crooked. :(
