I'm not new to cats , but have never had a kitten. I have an 9 week old
female kitten names Jessie and a 2 year old named Persia. I brought the
kitten into the vet, they wanted a fecal sample and it was suposed to be
her first check up. According to her records she is not due for the next
round of shots. All they did was try and sell me stuff ie flea stuff,
and to switch her food to thier science diet. I told them that she might
get sick from switching food and they said "Oh its just alittle
diaerra". Then I asked for an estimate on the spaying operation, they
actually tried to get me to add declawing! This was an VCA place! We are
not going back.

Disgusting. I used to take my cats to a VCA animal hospital and they
were also only interested in money, and never really helped my cats
with health problems. Plus, kept pushing vacs on already compromised
animals. They even had a video monitor in the waiting room
advertizing declaw surgery.

Congrats on your new kitten.

Good for you. Make sure to write them and tell them that, too. In my
opinion, VCA is horrendous and I will NEVER go to one of their clinics.
I was a client at my former vet clinic for 14 years, and then VCA bought
them out. The prices have skyrocketed, the service has gone down and I
went from being treated like a valued client (who, during my time there,
had spent around $70,000 and brought them tens of thousands of dollars
worth of new business as well) to being treated like a stepchild. You
should also be aware that their vets work on COMMISSION, so of course
the likelihood is very high that they will try to sell you whatever they
can and charge for as many things as they can. They also own the lab
that all the tests go to, and they screw you in that respect and greatly
overcharge as well. VCA doesn't give a sh.t about animals. It's all
about money. There are a lot of other people that share my opinion on
this as well.

I'm completely unfamiliar with VCA, and it sounds like I want it to
stay that way. Good lord.

Wow,
I had a bad time a few years back with my cat at a VCA in another
location. basically my cat died from an ear infection. <long story> they
kept treating her for mites. when it got serious she lost half her body
weight, I thought I would opt to put her to sleep. they told me I would
be killing her for an ear infection. Needless to say, they wanted to
remove her ear in a brain surgery and I had enough horror, cause
everytime I took her in they talked me into another week. It was a total
of 3 weeks and I finally put a stop to it. They got alot of money from
me and My cat suffered, she was 22 years old. I will never go through
that again.

I didn't know it was a VCA, I have gotten an address from my sister in
law. And I made the appointment they did not say VCA. When we pulled up
I saw the sign and knew they were going to try something. I would not
let them keep her medical records. Thanks for all the replies, Know I
know I'm not over reacting from my last tragdy.

I'm so sorry that you and your sweet old girl had to go through that horror.
All who have experienced horrors with this VCA franchise should not only spread
the word, you all should write to the Vet Licensing Board in your state.
