Every time someone uses a q-tip in my household, my cat finds it and
eats it whole. He even digs through the trash looking for them. Has
anyone else had this happen to them? Should I be concerned about this
behavior? Last night he did it again. He has eaten a few and passed
them, but I am concerned. Thoughts?

There is something in our ear wax that cat's find delicious.
One of my cats eats the earplugs I wear to bed (this helps with insomnia
by the way).  She also likes rubber bands The only thing we can do is
keep them far away from her!

Get a trash container that the cat can't open or put it in a trash
barrel where the cat can't reach it.

It's probably ok to flush them down the toilet, unless you have
a septic system.

I don't know about that.....having lived in many houses (some with
old pipes) I would be leary about it.   Better to err on the safe side
put it in the trash rather than find out after a plumber visit and
$5,000 later that I wasn't a good idea to put it down the toilet.
Especially where i'm the one paying the plumbing bill.

Ok, I guess since we are in an apartment complex
I tend to live dangerously!

One of ours has the nickname Q-tip. She loves Q-tips
and will play with them for a long time. She doesn't eat
them whole,  though.  I don't know why she likes them
so much. These are new Q-tips.
