Well, after two days of hissing and growling, our older kitty is now
sitting and looking into the kitten's room and seeming to enjoy watching
the little one play.  This is progress, right?

We are letting the older kitty have our bedroom as a refuge.
Kinda necessary since the kitten hasn't perfected the litter box
routine (like a little kid she forgets she needs to go until it is too
late).  She gets the den while we sleep.

That is great! it's been 7 days since the new kitten was introduced
here and Ms kitty who is 18 yrs old, and sot in her ways, still sits
and gives him the evil eye and a low warning howl, and if confronted
too closely, leaves the room, not to be found until she emerges a
number of hours later. gives us the cold shoulder and pouts for hours.

Our Ms. Kitty is only 8, and still pretty active.  We are hoping she
plays with the kitten by week's end.

i read your other response andit sounds like you have a good plan,
and with your Ms K so young, she will no doubt be somewhat more
flexable. good luck.. let us know how she/they progress.

Ms K is pretty crabby today, the kitten has realized that she is the
biggest toy in the house!   They are in the same room much of the time
we are home, and kitten got a big snarl and a swat this morning.

This is so funny! my old cat is also Ms Kitty, but the new baby is a
little male. Ms Kitty will still not tolerate Lucky, and continues to
give him the evil eye and low throaty warnings which freeze Lucky in
his tracks when he startes toward Ms Kitty.

Today i found that lucky was using the litter box on the porch, and he
also decided to use the basket that provided for his bed, and had
claimed posession of fod and water bowls... so... decided time to
bring all inside and see what happens.  So far so goos. Only one
lesson entering and exiting via the cat door into garage where his
litter box is, placed food by washing machine.. ok..

He didn't like where i put his bed, (on the hearth too close to the
floor) and i just happend to have another basket on a side table
placed there to be taken to the shed next time i go out, and he, after
wearing himself out, disapeared, and i finally found him curled up in
that basket.

Ms Kitty will not get on my bed if Lucky is in the room. i put Lucky
out and Ms Kitty came up on the bed. She went sound asleep. I opened
the door, in comes Lucky.. up on the bed, finds Ms Kitty's tail and
plays with it for half an hour while Ms Kitty is sound asleep, even
took a few short naps holding on to it, and then Ms Kitty awakens,
begins to groom herself, and groomed for 10 minutes before she
realized there was a kitten attached to her tail! EXPLOSION!!!!
Both Jumped straight up, landed, stared at each other backs up and
puffed like bottle brushes! I talked and calmed Ms Kitty down but she
was so indignant that she, with ears thrown back and in sullen
silence, eased off the bed, slowly, stiffly, walked to just outside
the door and just stood there for about 5 minutes without moving like
she was just tryiing to get hold of herself..

Gonna take a while!

Ms. Kitty was embarrassed that she'd not noticed the kitten. ;-) In
all likelihood, she'll start to chill out a little bit once she gets
over that.

Oh we just call her Ms. Kitty from time to time, her real name is Nico.
The kitten is named Yoshimi.

Hilarious!   Yoshimi got another tongue lashing for trying to attack
Nico's tail last night.  We got a picture just before the attack which
is kind of cute.  It would be SO nice if they would play together,
because Nico really needs the exercise, she is really chubby!
