For years, whenever I sat down at my home computer, either Fluffy or
Millie, whichever got there first, would park herself on top of the
back end of the monitor for the duration of the session.  The last of
my working monitors got so dark I really couldn't use it much longer,
so last night I replaced it with a brand new LCD display.  The LCD is
only a couple of inches thick and has no protruding back end so
nowhere for tha cats to lie down.  I thought about this before I
bought the LCD, but I have a table depth problem that forces the
keyboard almost off the table when using CRT monitors - the LCD is
thin enough that now there is even room for cats to walk around the
monitor without having to walk on the keyboard.  All in all, a marked
improvement from my point of view.  But not from Fluffy's: she got
irate when she discovered the change and spent some time searching for
a suitable replacement - she wound up on a box of books beside my
chair, but she was obviously unhappy.  I expect Millie will be about
the same when she discovers the change.  Progress has side effects.

You know, my husband and I have delayed buying a new chair because our
current chair belongs to our boy cat.  We just don't know what he would do
without it -- but it is big and takes up a lot of room in the apartment.
Still, we don't have the heart to get a smaller chair -- after all, our boy
cat is pretty big, too!
