Mudpie picture ... at last

Black cats are hard to photograph well, and black cats that have their
'place' under the bed even more so.  Mudpie is almost all black, about
two years and nine months old, and spends his time under the bed, too
close (lap) to photograph, or out of the yard hunting.  Recently he
struck a pose on the ironing board I put under a bedroom window -
partly for a place to leave it and partly as a place for the cats to
look out the often open window - and held the pose long enough for me
to go get my camera and take the picture:

I think rehoming Sebastian was the key to having Mudpie make himself
more available: he took over the beta cat position and so has no
reason to be inconspicuous now (as long as he doesn't challenge
Fleagor, nobody will bother him).

That's a good picture! Is that his "I vont to be alone" pose?
Looks like a great comfy windowseat, too.

He wasn't alone when I first noticed him, but he was by the time I got
back with the camera.  Both of them had been intent on watching
something outside, but as usual, I never saw what it was.

That window seat *is* very popular: often there are four or more cats
there, sometimes, when it's sunny, lying in one or more heaps, all
smiling, even the ones on the bottom.

There is some modeling in the picture, and his (small) locket is just
visible (but not the larger white patch between his hind legs).  For
purposes of photography, he is a black cat, but he really is black and
white.

He's beautiful! He looks like a half size version of my oldest! How
many pounds is he?

I don't know - at least twelve.  He's the beta cat - behind Fleagor in
size and weight, but he's catching up on weight.  (Tigger outweighs
both of them, but he's not big enough otherwise to count - he's just
fat.)

I just noticed yesterday evening that he is really a very dark brown.
He was in about the same spot as in the picture and the sun was
shining on him.
