I am a little "undone" at the moment.  I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I heard a
strange sound -- a bird sound, but kind of a whistle sound too.  I wondered what kind of a bird
would make a sound like that.  I went into the computer room, looked out, but could not see anything.
I then went into the sunroom to look out.  I happened to glance at the floor and saw a brown lump
-- almost looked like a turtle...then I realized it was a fledgling bird of some kind.

Thank goodness Tootie was on the back patio.  I tried to pick the bird up with a kleenex, but it got
away and ran into the dining room -- I followed with a towel, but again it got away and  ran into
the dining room.  It was under a chair, but I dropped the towel over it and scooped it up
(hopefully) and took it outside.  I held the towel close to a patch of daisies and opened it up.  I
saw nothing, but I hope it got out.

I have looked all over the house again, but so far I haven't seen anything, so am hoping I did catch
it in the towel.  I believe it was a quail and I have no idea how it got in the house.  Come to
think of it, last night Tootie was fascinated with a dark corner of the bedroom  -- I thought she
was playing "hide and go seek" with me.  MLB

We have enticed birds to leave the garage in this way:  when night comes and
it is dark outside, turn out the lights in the garage, aim the car at the
garage and turn the lights on, and open the garage door.  The birds will
usually head for the light and fly outside.  It would be much more difficult
when the bird is actually in your house, but you might be able to try a
variation by turning on the lights in your sunroom and all other lights off,
with the door to the sunroom open (and also the door to the outside).  Once
it is in the sunroom, close the door to the house and see if you can get it
outside.  It will be very helpful if you can place a light outside the entry
door to the sunroom.  (And don't forgot to first lock your cat in a separate
room -- both for its security and for the bird's safety!)  Of course, all of
this is on the presumption that the bird may still be somewhere in your
house.  I realize from your message that you may already have been able to
remove it from the house.
