can one use bait with added tranqualizer or poisen to catch wild cats that
are killing the wildlife on our property?

How would you recommend to do this?

thank you

Wild cats are wildlife also, are they not?  However, they have few natural
predators--and even fewer clever enough to catch them.  Humans fit both
those profile indices.

You can use a live-catch trap (or traps) baited with a smelly substance to
attract cats.  However, it is probable that you will also snare other
creatures as well.  So, if you put poison in with the bait, your purpose
will be defeated.  Even if you do not poison the bait, such a plan will
require many traps, and you will have the unsavory task of slaughtering the
helpless cat or standing guard over the tranquil creature until it regains
its senses well enough to survive the cats' prowl.

If you put tranquilizer in the bait and just leave it lying about on the
forest floor, an even worse problem will be created because small woodland
creature may eat it and then lie *tranquil*, unable to escape the cats whom
you wish to target.

By whatever *clever* method, it is doubtful you can catch enough cats to
alter the wildlife dynamics you describe--as all creatures in and out of the
wild breed freely and eat each other.

No.
This is highly illegal and will result in the deaths of others' pets.
Even if you killed them all, others would move into their territories.
Predation is a part of the operation of the food chain.
Whether it happens in your garden or not - it's a fact of life .... deal
with it.

You can get horse tranquilizers and crush them into a powder, stir it
into a can of sardines and serve, or use my favorite poison,
antifeeze. I know from first hand experience both work extremely well.
You can also use a havahart trap to catch them and toss fiecrackers in
the trap with them, this terrorizes the cat and when released, will
not come around anymore. I prefer M-80s this eliminates the cat
altogether.
