According to my vet, declawing is a *safe* surgical procedure. It also
makes the cat quicker on its feet and less likely to fight with other
cats. Some people complain that declawing causes a cat to become a
*biter* from lack of claws to defend itself. From my experience this
is not true at all. I would however, never entertain the thought of
declawing an outside cat, or a cat that is considered a *mouser*.
After having one of my cats jump into my infants crib, and scratch and
scar him up terribly bad, (over the smell of milk from his bottle), I
decided to have the cats declawed. I have had no more trouble from
them and I am very satisfied with my decision.

The part about a cat scarring your child up terribly bad
over the smell of milk and then you just declawed the
cat and everything is ok.

My son healed very well, the scratches on his face fully healed. The
bitemarks on his hand did however leave a permanent scar. Having the
cat declawed was better than having him euthanized in my opinion, but
my wife begs to differ.

What moron told you that ?
Have you never heard a cat running around on a carpet ?
They are totally reliant on claws for high-speed cornering.
How do you imagine they climb trees, etc ?
and less likely to fight with other

In a lot of countries, it's illegal.
