Was just wondering the best way to get 2 (out of litter of five) 2 week
old kittens to the vet. These two have eye infections, their eyes have
just opened.
We're leaving for the vet's in about 4 hours, and was hoping someone has
done this before.
Should we take all, plus the mother? It would be a bit cramped in the
carrier, but I trust mom would know not to sit on them.
If we just take the two, what are the chances of mom rejecting them when
we return, because they would smell different?
Thanks!

On your return do scent transfer. Rub Mom with a washcloth (or
whatever) then gently rub the kittens.

I personally would take them all. The other kittens may also get the eye
infections anyway. This way the vet could make sure they're all okay. It'd
probably be the same charge for two or the bunch. This way everyone smells the
same, the little ones have mom to make them feel secure and everyone gets a
checkup. You could bring them in two carriers side by side.

Being a vet assistance I advice you to take all of them as the eye
infection will spread even to mom if not treated

Thanks for the replies.
We talked to the vet again, and she prescribed eye drops. If the kittens
aren't showing improvement soon, we'll haul their furry little rears in!
I never thought I'd be such a worried mom...

If their eyes are just shut from dried pus, then a washcloth or qtip
with warm water should unclog them. If it turns out to be an ongoing
infection then may as well bring the whole family to the vet for a
once-over. As to whether the mother would reject them? I;ve never seen
that happen (we're talking about your housecat or a barn/feral cat?),
but YMMV.
