I have recently posted a cat problem.  My cat is frequently using the
bathroom in areas other than her litter box.  I was just thinking about it,
and I have been really busy with school.  I haven't had as much time to play
and be affectionate with her.  Do you guys think that maybe she's doing this
to try to get my attention?  If so, is this a typical reaction for cats that
are feeling, well lonely?  Thanks in advance...

I'd vote for trying to get your attention, but it's more likely something
other than loneliness. Cats with a bladder infection have no other way to
let you know they're ill. I'd recommend a visit to the vet.

It's great that you're trying to find solutions to why your cats behaviour
has changed, but in the mean time, this is not really doing her any good.

As I and others have suggested when you originally posted - have her checked
by a vet! If she checks out "sound" then try paying more attention to her.

Here's hoping you find the solution to her problem soon. :c)

She most like has a bladder or urniary track infection, get her checked out,
the longer you wait the more meds she will need and the more it will cost
you.
