I took your advise and took our 8 month kitty off kitty food and put him on
Purina indoor cat dry food-she won't eat it...I put milk on it and she
licked up the milk only not eating any food-
I was thinking of buy one more of the kitty food and mixing them together
and get her going...
any advise..
thanks

Do it gradually. You kitty is obviously used to one thing so will need to
slowly get used to others. Start with 90/10% of old food. After a few days,
go to 80-20% etc. he will slowly get used to new smell and new tastes.

Saying all that, I don't know what others think, but since I like to eat
different food everyday, I figure, why should my cats eat the same thing all
the time. Can;t be fun. So I feed mine with a can of different food every
day, and change dry food as much as possible. Not all of them like all of
the tastes of course, but that is tuff, and if they don;t like the wet food
they will munch on dry (or help me with my dinner he he). My Tiara has
thoroughly enjoy my Atkins diet with me :)

They all however adore Hills Science diet dry food; I get them furrball
(Hairball) and Indoor versions, but hey all adore others as well. My
Tigger's tummy completely banned Purina's indoor dry food which mostly ended
up back on the carpet joined by other stomach contents of course. So try
Hills Science diet, but don;t make it the only thing he ever eats.

As for milk, don't give it. Milk contains lactose which cats stomachs can;t
digest therefore often causing throwing up/diarrhea. Felix, Whiskas and
Tesco make special cat milk without lactose, which tastes gorgeous(I tried
it he he) but again, not all cats will like it.

I seem to have an unfussy kitten, he's so far eaten 4 different brands of
kitten food in varying flavours, and wolfed the lot (-:

I thought you're not meant switching brands because it's hard on the tummy?
(you stated that yourself above, mixing slowly).
Or are you talking about different flavours within the same brand?

Yeah my first suggestion was to mix it slowly if she was to do it from one
brand she used for a long time to another brand which will stay. If a cat is
not used to switching food, then she/he may not be happy, which is what
happened in this case, hence my suggestion.

My cats however have always eaten different foods, from the day one. I never
let them have anything the same for more then  couple of days, unlike the
original poster, if I understood correctly. And no I dont; think it;s hard
on their tummies at all, just like you eat different food everyday and is
not hard on your stomach. So to my cats introduction to a new brand is a
common reaccurance, so they are completely used to eat, and are always eager
to see what's on the menu today. And yeah, I am talking about different
brands, diferent meat, diffferent packiging shapes etc. I purposly by as
wide variety as I can, but never anything too cheap.

Mine seem to like Felix and Classic wet food the best, and any dry food
really, especially Hills Sceience diet. They collectively dislike Whiskas
and Arthurs wet food, never understood that.

Maybe try buying that cay milk stuff and making it mushy in the bowl then
slowly bringing her to just cat food.  Are you weaning her from kitten chow
at 8 months?  I would wait till she was closer to 1 year old.

Pieces and Frisko would like to agree with gee..."We eat a new flavor of
fancy feast every day...we get our choice of two different flavors, or hard
food."
