Shannon, Dont worry about it.
People like that think that they never mis-spell any thing.
We know what you was talking about.
And as far as a backyard breeder heck they must have came from one of them
or a ( Woodpile )?

Look, I wasn't spell-flaming you. But your post, including the content, just
screams that you might be someone who just has a "daddy cat" and "mommy cat''
and decided to have the fun of oodles of baby cats and make a little money too.
You are obviously defensive, and I suspect it's because you know I'm right.
Sometimes I go to the municipal pound and rescue adoptable cats. But space is
limited, and sometimes I know I can only take one or two and bring to the
humane society. What I see are beautiful, healthy kittens. Some even look
enough like Himmies or Siamese to pass for one. I get to decide who lives and
who dies.
And purebred cats? I've personally carried purebred cats out of the filthy,
stinking house where the kitten miller kept them. These cats were being
shipped to New York, wholesaled to pet stores. Health? Who cares! After all,
they were a "commodity" for profit, and less care means less overhead, more
profit!
Then there's the backyard breeder. You get the aforesaid mommy and daddy cat,
and even if you take impeccable care of them, and adopt them carefully, you're
still displacing another cat from getting a home. Prospective buyers who are
making an educated purchase aren't going to buy from you. They're going to go
to a responsible breeder. And unless you spay/neuter every kitten before
adopting it, you're quite possibly responsible for *more* kittens, and more
amateur breeders.
If you think breeding is easy and profitable, talk to someone who knows the
business. I hope Orchid will chime in on this one. It's *not* a money-making
business.
The euthanasia rate in this country is shameful. We are killing healthy
kittens. We already have enough (responsible) breeders to ensure no breed is
going to die out.. and those breeders are experienced, well-versed in genetics,
and from what I hear, they don't make a dime.
This "rant" is *not* a personal attack on you. I probably used to be just like
you. Although I never bred purebreds, I had cats who had litters on the farm
and didn't think anything about it. That's before I got involved, years ago, in
rescue.
I'm not trying to make you angry. I am just trying to make you see how
*critical* it is NOT to continue with an amateur breeding program.

Heh. I just blew my wad in the original post. Hopefully
Shannon will take the time to slog through the whole thing.

posting it.
Sherry
Leaving out the i vowel is no big deal.
It still sounds the same.

| I suppose I'll stop all breeding
Now, that's a Very Good Idea.
| and get rid of my cats.
If you had them for backyard breeding only, that might be a good idea
too.
