04/08/08
New York University senior Hany Abdallah earned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Co-Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week award after clocking another record-breaking performance.
A seven-time All-American, Abdallah established his fourth NYU record in the 10,000-meter run at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University on April 4. His time of 29:50.29 not only eclipsed the previous standard of 30:06 set by Jon Phillips last spring, but also enabled the senior from Madison, NJ, to automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships next month at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
In addition to setting the outdoor standard in the 10,000m, Abdallah also owns school records in the indoor 3,000m (8:19.65, 2008) and 5,000m (14:21.87), as well as the outdoor 5,000m (14:12.46).
Already, Abdallah has earned three All-American honors in cross country, as well as two apiece in indoor and outdoor track. In March, he placed third in the 5,000m at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
