I recently adopted a kitten from a shelter. Simon loves to cuddle but as soon
as he does he starts sucking on my clothes and kneading away.
I realize this problem isn't his fault and he was probably taken from his
mother too soon, but I really need to get him to stop. He's getting big and he
really gets into it and it hurts! Nothing seems to deter him. "No" doesn't
work. Blowing in his ear doesn't work. Putting my hand under his mouth just
moves him to another spot. He's a very determined kitten. Looks like he has a
lot of Siamese in him.
I try putting him down when he starts and praising him on the rare occasions
when he cuddles without nursing. Not much effect.
He may be teething. He's trying to chew on hard plastics. Are there teething
rings for kittens?
I also have a 5-year-old cat and the two of them get along fine. She's good
about washing him and snuggling with him. I don't think he's ever tried to
nurse on her, or if he did she set him straight real quick.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
