I've now put putting much of the text of Frances Simpson's book of the cat
online (e.g. breeds, exhibiting, medical care, recue, fanciers and catteries
of the era) and quite a few photos from the book.  Some of the content from
Helen Winslow's "Concerning Cats" is also there. The information and pics
are free to use if anyone wants.  The cat care retrospectives archive now
cover the 1880s through to the 1960s and is a free resource..

"The Book of the Cat" and "Concerning Cats" are out of copyright (for
example you can get the whole text of "Concerning Cats" from the
Gutenberg Project) as are other sources over 70 years old (e.g. Wain's
books, old issues of Fur & Feather, Buffon's natural histories).  The
later articles use attributed quotes and my own commentary plus
information provided by colleagues in cat rescue.
