If it's a minor wound, you can use medical grade hydrogen peroxide available at
any drug store.

Cat bites to humans can be very serious but I don't know if cats
immune systems protect them from their own.  I haven't had to clean up
after that kind of mess but I have had to clean allergy reactions that
cause kitty to bite himself and I've used hydrogen peroxide and a
topical treatment of one of the triple antibiotic topicals like
neosporin (vet ok'd it on the tail area that can be licked off, but I
had to use an e-collar to let it "set in".  On the neck I suspect
kitty can't easily lick it off)

I have that (Neo.)...was wondering about it.  Also...rubbing alcohol...but that
seems strong but probably so does HP.

HP is what we used at the vet.  Neosporin is better than nothing
(Ideally you'd want to use triple antibiotic ointment), but if the
wound is large or a puncture wound, I'd take kitty in for oral
antibiotics.

Cats develop bad abcesses from cat bites --- they are definately not
immune.   Years ago our Ginger developed a big abcess   He had it
drained by the Vet but it would not heal.  The cat was in  terrible
pain and the Vet said to euthanize.  This was before we had
antibiotics.

One of our cats got an abscess from a cat bite. The vet had to lance it and
when she came home we had to clean the wound with peroxide and apply triple
antibiotic cream as per vets instructions.

I'd clean it out with peroxide and keep an eye on it. If it's a puncture
instead of a scratch it could abscess.

hi ,
The problem with bites is that sometimes they don't look serious .
The wound or mark can look small on the outside but go deep inside,
making it difficult to clean . Bacteria from the cats teeth can be
trapped inside and pus and infection  form and not escape . It might
be quicker in the long run to take the cat to the vet .

If you decide to visit your vet to have the bite checked out, you may want
to consider having kitty tested for FIV and Felv, if you haven't done so
already. Both are contagious, particularly through bites!
