kittens playing in litterbox -- help!

We have our first kittens, a brother and sister about 11 weeks old.
They came to us litterbox trained and have been good about that, but
they love to play in the litterbox.  We want to train them out of
playing together in the litterbox, but don't want to train them out of
using the litterbox as a litterbox!

Note that the litterbox is one of those "cave" types with a hood.  Is
that the problem??  Is it perhaps that they just want an enclosed
space to play in?  (Taking the hood off now to see if that helps!)

Any suggestions?

Taking the hood off is about the extent of what I'd recommend.
They'll grow out of it; I've had kittens who did the same thing and
none of them grew up to be litterbox loungers.

This is not a book to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown
with great force.

I personally would not worry too much, they will soon stop doing that, make
sure they are not eating it, clumping litter gets stuck to the roof of their
mouths :-(

Taking the hood off is a good idea. It makes the place less of a play pen.

They should grow out of this. Pray that they don't start with the
problem someone else was describing, turd floor hockey.  ;-)
