Hi

I posted a few weeks ago about Murdoc spraying in the house and how it
would turn into a full scale pee.  We took him to the vet and she seemed
to think it was behavioral and suggested Feliway.  I just sprayed it
around the house yesterday, so I'm not too sure how effective it is yet.
We supplied the vet with a urine sample and everything is clear.
However, I'm still not satisfied.  I had pointed out to her that
Murdoc's seems to have gotten very thin in the area in front of his rear
legs (kidney area?), but she didn't seem to think much of it.

Is it possible that he could have a problem with his kidneys and it's
not showing up in the urine testing?  Does a blood test need to be taken
 for that?

Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for your specific question (although I
think I would seek a second opinion in this case).  I did want to respond to
your comment about Feliway.  Feliway is used for behavior modification, and
it can be very effective.  However, you will have to spray every day (or
even more often) if you use the spray.  I do keep a can of Feliway spray to
use in the cat carriers.  I think you will find it more effective -- and
easier to use -- if you will buy the Feliway diffuser.  I used 3 of them,
located in various areas, when I adopted a second cat (Duffy); and I think
you would find that more effective than spraying from the aerosol-type
container.  The diffusers release measured amounts on a timed basis, and
they are refillable.  I found that a refill lasted a little more than a
month.  I ordered mine from ValleyVet (http://www.valleyvet.com). They have
better prices than most others, and there is no charge for shipping. The
last time I checked, they listed Feliway for $29.95 for a diffuser with one
bottle of Feliway.
