Twitchy Shuna

Dear All,

My cat (Shuna, 8 yrs, female moggy) has a strange twitchy head which
concerns me. Her head only occassionally does the shakes, but will
very often shake when she's otherwise completely relaxed (ie. sitting
on me), and she sometimes seems almost in a trance-like state. Her
head doesn't shake when she's asleep.

The degree of twitch varies: sometimes it's only a couple of little
shakes (almost as if she had something in her ear), but at other times
it's a rather scary-looking parkinsonian tremor. She seems otherwise
healthy and happy. I've mentioned this to the Vet before, but he
fobbed me off with some stuff aboout her teeth needing cleaned (which
he was recommending at that time, and which we had done: never again).

Any ideas? Do I need to get more investigations done, or is this one
of those things that some cats do (my other cat doesn't do it at all,
but then he's a neutered male and thus rarely conscious) ?

TIA

I would get a second opinion by a good vet. This is not normal.

LOL. Did he at least examine her ears? Do you bath your cat or use a
water spray on her? I´ve seen my dog do that once when water
accidentally got in one of his ears.

I would be concerned about something affecting her nervous system. I
would definitely see a vet, and probably not the one you saw before. If
they seem flaky or dismissive, ask for a referral to a specialist. I'm
sorry about Shuna. :( Good luck!
