Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the posts.  We took Oso to the vet and he tested positive for
FLV and kidney infection.  We are still force feeding him and trying to
find a holistic vet to help him boost his immune system.  He is also on
antibiotics.  Thank you again for all of your posts.  If any of you have
dealt with something like this or have any ideas on how to comfort him
please let us know!  Also, when is a good time to put him to sleep?  We
really do not want him to suffer but we want to give him a sufficient
chance to go into remission.

Did the vet run the FeLV test in the office (ELISA) or did he send a blood
sample to a lab (IFA)?  In-house FeLV ELISA tests are not definitive- many
results are 'false positives'.  If your vet ran an ELISA, the results must
be confirmed by an IFA test.

How is Oso doing by now? Did you find a holistic vet?

We have not dealt with Felv, but did have a cat with a kidney infection.
It was pretty nasty -- she was very sick. She had to be force-fed, and
have injectable antibiotics every day.

Just keep getting food into him, that will help him to fight this. Even
when our cat started eating a little on her own -- I was was putting
food in front of her face about every hour. She would usually eat a
little, but I had to continuously remind her.

Good luck,

Rhonda

Thanks for the info guys!!!  Oso is showing some improvement.  We are
taking him a holistic vet next week.  We have been giving him Vit C and
B-12 which is giving him a little energy.  His progress is slow, but we
can see improvements.  I have been on the holisticat.com website and they
have so much great info!!!
