I might be crazy, but...

Today the place called, and Dmitri's ashes are ready. :(

I'll pick them up tomorrow, and then next week I'm going to sprinkle
them in the wildflower garden and hold a little Buddhist/Feng Shui
ceremony. (I'm not Buddhist, but I do practice Feng Shui and have found
great things in it)

Before they called, I went outside to take care of the trash and Jack
wasn't letting me out of his sight, so I let him go with me. He likes
to roll in the catnip in the garden. (But he stays very close to me and
doesn't try to run away...this isn't a habit I want to get into,
though, letting him go out with me.)

So later, I was feeling pretty sad, and needed to go out and pick
tomatoes and water everything. As soon as I walked out the back, I saw
these two huge, beautiful monarch butterflies in the wildflower patch.
It's about fifty feet away, and as I walked down the stairs, they flew
over to me and circled around me, then flew around me a minute, then
back to the flowers. Then, a hummingbird flew right past me and went to
the sweet peas. I've never seen that hummingbird out back, only in
front, where he likes to sip at a hanging basket. Dmitri loved to sit
in the front window and wait for that hummingbird's daily appearance.

And the butterflies only started appearing after Dmitri died. He loved
butterflies and used to love to chase them when we lived in the
country. Now, every time I'm out back, that patch is filled with these
stunning monarchs. And they almost seem to say hello to me.

So I'm taking the butterflies and hummingbird as little messages from
him, telling me he's okay and he's happy, chasing butterflies with
Sharik. (But the butterflies swirling around me did send me into
tears...)

Juls

p.s. To that nimrod "Howedy" guy, I've killfiled your stupid a.s, so
don't waste your breath.

There may be a lot out there that we don't really understand.  When I lost
my Sapphire and she was also cremated I was desperate for a sign from her
and on a Sunday morning I saw  big white bird flying around outside.  The
bird was back that afternoon and my Pickles got very excited about that and
then we never saw the bird again.

My two Siamese brother cats died 6 months apart and the night of each cat's
death our smoke detector went off once.  It was eerie because the first time
I told my son our Chocolate Puff was letting us know his spirit was with us
and then again this happened with Randy's death so we believe!

I did it right the first time.

Beautiful.  I am sorry for your loss.  It is very difficult to learn to
live without our 'children'.  Thank you for sharing.

What a beautiful story!  I have noticed a lot of Monarchs at my mom's
house -
and now when I see one, I'll think of you and your furbaby. . .

When I lost Samantha, I had her cremated as well.  It's been almost 5 years
since
she has been gone and I still feel her jump up on my bed to sleep with me.
She
had hypothyroidism, was on meds for that AND Valium and she was still crazy
full of energy - she lost a lot of weight and had (or should I say has?) a
very
distinct jump on the bed - I could always tell it was her.  I still grieve
for her,
well, I grieve for ME 'cause I miss her - she is happy, running around like
a nut,
jumping and hanging on door jams. . .

wow great story, juls. i dont know what id do if my cat felicia died,
at least you're finding a way to cope. always remember that your cat
probably loved you, and whenever you really need her, remember that her
spirit is right there beside you.

Thank you. :)

I really enjoyed reading everyone's stories. And I'm still enjoying
those monarchs...they are just spectacular.

In new news, JACK HAS A NEW SISTER!!! I'm going to put that in a new
thread.
