we live in upstairs apart.,  Moe got out once but we got him
back.....big prob its grounds for eviction if your pet is caught
outside not on a leash

now both of them go for the door when I leave and wait a bit because
ofetn I'm doing wash or taking out trash

baby gates are just too short, they're 9 months old and full of it, big
kitties too, Rudy the largest brother weighs 13 lbs.

literally grapped Rudy by his tail to stop him tonight, only thing I
could grap
was very lucky, no bites or straches

Have you tried a coffee can full of marbles, shaken when you
go to the door?

Or--a similar noisemaker that hangs on the door knob--but
that would get on my nerves.

I had two cats in an apartment in college and both were intent
on getting out. The can of marbles sat on a table by the door, and we got
into the habit of shaking it on our way out and on our way in. That
way I knew when my room mate was coming in, too! Anyway, the cats
eventually stopped taking an interest in escaping.

One of my cats is an escape artist and I have to watch that he doesn't dart
out the door.  I started keeping a water bottle at the door and I squirt him
if he even comes close to it while I'm coming in and out.  Getting soaked
with a big blast of water seems to be a big deterrent with him.  He often
will sit by the edge of the stove but rarely goes any further now because he
knows if he makes a dash for it he gets squirted.

Hodge got out last night and was sucking up to the guy next door, who
was leaving just as I came back. He'll suck up for a few minutes, so
when I say, "Be careful, he will bite," no one believes me. (Although
once at my old place when he got out and someone retrieved him and I
said that, the moment she said, "This sweet kitty?" ::: pet pet ::: he
chose that moment to chomp her on the hand. :O)

Once he got out while I was taking trash to the chute. I let him follow
me because I figured it wouldn't hurt anything. The woman at the end of
the hall, however, was also taking trash to the chute, and her SO was
holding the apartment door open, so Hodge zoomed and made a beeline into
their apartment. The SO had to catch him, which took a couple of
minutes. Was my face red . . .

Is it possible that he is biter due to the stress of confinement?

Oh, boy, a troll. Well, is it possible you haven't read Hodge's history?
You haven't? Surprise, surprise. ;)

You mean your previous post? Yes, I did. My question still stands.

Oh, you gleaned "history" and "stress" and "confinement" from one post
that contained no history and no mention of stress or confinement? I had
no idea we were graced with a pet psychic! Is it possible you're either
a clueless troll or even one of the famous socks? Hmmm.

I'm so sorry I didnt properly research the Google archives to get up to

beofre posting. Sorry about that.

I don't care if you know anything about Hodge the cat, until you ask
snotty questions about something you don't know anything about and say
it was prompted by one post in which neither "confinement" nor "stress"
is mentioned.

Poor cat. That's so sad.
