If anyone remembers -- a couple of weeks ago I went to Portland to help
a person with their new cat. This is a cat we trapped at 10 weeks old,
tamed for a few weeks, then he went off to his new home. That was three
years ago.
The owner moved away recently, left him with this new person, and he
reverted to semi-feral mode.
Things are not better. She is afraid of him and has made no progress. He
hides in the closet when she's in the room.
So, it's over. Now we're working on getting him back to the original
owner (maybe another orange cat air-lift), or I'll just go get him
myself. I stressed that he is NOT to be taken to a shelter. He will
never get adopted in his fraidy-cat mode. He is slow to trust, but can
become a cuddle cat. He is very emotional. He loved his old owner, was
even a lap-cat with her.
Poor baby.

That sucks, Rhonda. I am sorry to hear that poor kitty is still so
scaredy and traumatized. I wish you the best!

Oh Jesus - that totally sucks!! The worst part is it will take him
awhile to recover no matter where he is. She never called me, BTW.

I wish she would have. I've heard later that she talked about it, but
just didn't. She's avoiding me right now because I think she feels bad.
Her co-worker is letting me know the scoop.
I'm expecting a call this weekend.

That's very sad, Rhonda. But didn't the original owner dump him
basically? Now she wants him back? What a shame she screwed it up to
begin with. Best of luck to you and him. I hope he gets into a good,
permanent situation.

Yes, the owner left without him. She stated a couple of reasons, one
being she didn't want to put a scaredy-cat through a 2-day car ride. It
would have been so much better than this, though.
I think the cat would be happiest with her, if we can work it out.

lol!
Charlie, do you imagine Rhonda is willing to go through
THAT again, particularly given her stellar behavior since?
I know you don't, but the idea is really funny.

Thanks for the offer, Charlie. I will probably know more about his
situation in the next few days.
