I have heard that if you get bitten by a cat that you might need a tetanus
shot, is this true? I have the opportunity to get a tetanus shot for free so
I thought I would ask.

You should get a tetanus shot every 7 to 10 years anyway. I'm not sure
exactly which it is so if you haven't had one in a long while and you get
the chance to get one for free I'd take them up on it.

Anytime you get an animal bite the doc will probably give you a tetanus
shot as a precaution. Doesn't hurt to get one. It will last 10 years I
believe.

My doctor didn't, but that was also in the midst of the tetanus
shortage. He said none of them looked serious enough (but they all left
obvious scars) . . .

I remember my son getting a tetanus shot for a dog bite, and my
daughter got one for a terrapin bite. But that was a lot of years ago.
I worked with Exacto knives so much, that always took care of keeping
me current on tetanus shots!

Yes. Cat bites are the worst bites next to human bites. I speak from
experience. After being bitten pretty bad by my cat, doctor insisted on
giving me a tetanus shot. Good thing about tetanus shots, though, they last
10 years.

In my 20's and 30's I had an emotional Siamese cat. Several times I came
home with the scent of another cat on my legs and got bitten so hard that I
got black and blue marks. I didn't know to go to a doctor about this so I
didn't and therefore didn't get a tetanus shot. Later, as a boater I did
get the shot.

I did it right the first time.
