Hello :)
I wanted to thank everybody that replied to my post about an abandoned kitten
on Thursday. I truly appreciate all the advice and informative links. I decided
on Thursday, just as it was getting dark, to bring the sweet little kitten into
my house. I estimate the age to be about 10 days to 2 weeks. I made some
"emergency" kitten formula which I fed to the kitten by using a dropper. Friday
morning I went and bought the KMR kitten formula and a nurser bottle. The
kitten is doing very well, it`s eating, very active and I`m able to stimulate
it to urinate and move it`s bowels. The only problem I am having is with the
nurser bottle....it seems no matter how big I make the hole in the nipple, the
kitten doesn`t get "any" formula. This means having to use the dropper.
One of my cats decided to be the kittens surrogate mother, it`s truly touching
to watch. She lets the kitten nuzzle up and sleep with her, she bathes it and
cares for it like it were her own. We`re falling in love with this kitten,
she`s a cutie :)
Thanks again!
Jackie

That's great news, Jackie! I am so happy to hear you took the kitten in and
have added her to your family. I love hearing news like this :)

Awww, I'm really glad this is working out this way. Sounds like you have a new
baby and it's sweet that your other kitty is helping rear the baby. Good luck
with everything and it was very nice of you to bring him/her in.
I like your sig line, too.

that's really great the cat took up mom duties. It will make the kitty much
more confident. I'm glad you got him in.

Excellent! Be sure to keep the kitten warm enough, or he may not
digest his food properly. Also, depending on age, he needs to eat
every 3-4 hours.

HI Jackie,
This is the best news in your entire post. I had a female calico a few years back who
became surrogate mom to two kittens that we adopted. She loved them so much that she
began to lactate for them and feed them. Yours may do the same thing, and you won't have
to worry about bottle feeding.
