I'm always looking for something the cats might enjoy since they both
(pete and fred) spend the days by themselfs and I finally found
something that really mystifies them and they seem to have hours of fun
playing in it and it's not an over-priced *cat* toy..it's a 8" flexible
duct hose 15' long..you can twist and turn it and always make it a new
challenge for them..you can find these at most plumbing supply stores..
just make sure it's at least 8" so they can run thru it..I put ours
behind the couch in the den and made a few turns in it on either end.

You mean they sell those things in catsize too ? I have one for my ferrets,
a civilized version of the normal size dryer hose, it's their most loved
toy, and the cats are always so jealous that they can't get in it :-)

Yup,they sure do,check plumbing supply and hardware stores..I found the
6" diameter alittle too small but the 8" works great.
Nanny - 02 Aug 2005 08:55 GMT
I'll go and search for it, they'd love it !

Gotta try it. Sounds great for my deck.

Of course I don't look busy,
I did it right the first time.

Neat idea. I don't think mine would go for 8" diameter, though. Have
you seen it larger? I bought this fleece tunnel that crinkled (large
opening held open with a large plastic hoop, wider plastic piece in
the middle, and another on the other end, that one of mine liked for
a while. I ended up giving it away to a friend who'd just adopted
kittens when mine ignored it all the time.

Thanks for the link. No way would Peewee fit in an 8 inch diameter
tube - his head is that wide, I think...LOL.
He loves paper bags so I think I might look for the other thing.

Just for the record.....
I didn't post that. If there's no PGP sig, it's not from me.

Looks like you've picked a popular re-mailer, "Nomen", or else somebody with
an axe to grind with you too is trying to kill two birds with one stone.

Well, there's less than a dozen truly reliable remailers
so statistically there's about an 8% chance that someone
would choose this one at random. I have a guess as to who
it might be, but I won't say who without reasonable proof. I
will say, though, I don't think the remailer was picked at random.
But, again, this is why I always put the PGP sig on my posts.

Is it like the white flexible like the dryer vent hose? I have seen
something obviously much smaller I think at wal mart. When you
compress it does it get small enough to put away in a drawer or
somehting like that? 15' X 8" must take up a good amount of space when
you have it spread out huh...??
My kitten loves it when I throw a blanket or bath towel or something
like that over him as I imagine most would. Thanks for the info sounds
like a neat toy for them. So far his favorite toy is one of those huge
paper shopping bags that you rarely see anymore, its must be almost
four feet tall and very wide......he loves being in it but also
jumping on it so it makes the huge crunching noise.

You'd be surprised..by laying it along a wall or weaving it thru some
tables and other places..it becomes part of the *play* room...we have
ours in the game room so it's just part of the theme and it's usually
out of the walking areas.,I'd hate to think what this would cost with a
*pet* label on it..we only payed $11 for the 8"x15'hence the
cheap-thrills. :=) Once we introduced them to this big snake they use
it as a fort or running thru it as part of the chase/hide routine. I
tried to find one made out of vinyl or something crinkly but could only
find aluminum flex hose which works it's just not as noisy :)
Nanny - 03 Aug 2005 20:23 GMT
I can't find it here (I'm in Holland) so my poor cats have to live out their
lives watching the ferrets play with their tube.....
Btw, if it would have a pet label on it the quality would be a lot better.
The ferrets used theirs, a seethrough with a ferret label, for 4 years, and
I just got them a new one. Dryer hose doesn't live that long.

Nanny,I'm sure airconditioning installers/supply houses will have round
flexible duct somewhere near you. BTW,the commercial grade is much
tougher then anything you'll get at a pet supply store,my cats will
never wear this out.

It does get warm enough in Holland for ac..right? I'm picturing of all
the pictures of ice skaters skating on the frozen canals ;)
Nanny - 03 Aug 2005 22:32 GMT
LOL, we have summers too, you know :-) I think our climate is a bit like
it's in and around New York, though I suppose in New York there are more
extremes.
More and more people have ac these days, so there must be professional
companies. I'll google for them.
