The blood work came back normal for kidney function.  Thanks so much
for all your kind words.  The Tapazole needed to be adjusted, he is now
up to 1.5 pills a day instead of 1.

He did have a slightly elevated liver enzyme, which I plan to discuss
further with the vet (DH answered the call from the vet while I was
away).

He also had a bladder infection which we are treating with amoxicillin.
He showed no signs of infection.  He seems to already be drinking and
peeing less.  Appetite is a ravenous as ever.

Damn, I love that cat!

Sounds like he's doing great for his age.  Kami is 17 and only has
slight outward signs of slowdown due to arthritis, but an old fart with
CRF, heart murmur, and asthma to boot, she's sure spunky.  As long as
she gets her special diet, the occasional sub-q or pepcid, and has her
PetMate fountain, she does just fine.  Oh, and the Vaseline thing for
hairballs she things is a real treat now, and she begs every night for
her dose.  Yay!

Plain old Vaseline.  She loves the stuff.

Ewww. It's got petroleum products in it -- not something I'd want to
ingest.

Have you looked at the ingredient list of petromalt lately (emphasis on
"petro")?

Don't use it, either.

You know, he is doing really good for his age. I'm so glad the kidney levels
looked good.
