Hello,
We currently have a 1.5 - 2 year old female that we adopted 6 months or
so ago. She is a fabulous cat. She is especially attached to me, it
seems. We have decided to do a trial adoption of another 8 month old
female. I think our current cat will enjoy having a playmate as a
neighborhood cat comes over sometimes and she gets very excited about
it (he, on the other hand, hisses, so I can't figure out why he keeps
coming back!). Anyway, the new cat is being brought tomorrow morning by
someone from the cat rescue place. We have a separate room for the new
arrival all ready, and lots of toys, treats, etc. for both of them. My
question is, should our cat see this person bringing over the new
arrival or not? I was thinking that if she saw someone else bring the
cat, she wouldn't "blame" us for bringing her into the house. However,
perhaps seeing the new cat in a carrier being brought into our house
will be upsetting. Any thoughts are appreciated!
Thanks,
Jacqueline

I've heard this is true, but I really don't know how much bearing it really
has.

I don't think it matters. What matters is that you keep them separated for
awhile and integrate them very slowly.
