So, the woman I'm buying a house from can't keep her 2 cats.
Their names are Gut & Gul....  The Danish version of Tweedle Dee &
Tweedle Dum.... Or so she tells me.  Both female, 6 yrs old, fixed, all

shots up to date.  They are longhaired Tuxedo Tabbies.  They are SOOOO
freindly & social it shocked me!  I'm Willing to drive these beauties
anywhere within 2 days of Kamloops, BC.
I'd considewr taking them myself... but .... I have 2 & My DW has
1 and a teenager.  I don't think we can handle a 5 cat house (small
house, I might add) & stay sane.  Of course (*SIGH*) I won't let them
go to the pound & I'm doing all I can to find them a home in the
village that they live in.... but.....

I put in a call to my friend in BC - she said they have a 3 pet limit
where they live, and everyone she knows already has cats.  I will keep
you posted in anything comes up though.  Is there any way they might be
placed in the US?

I have no idea what the quarantine rules around that are... Or the cost
of crossing the border... Any thoughts?

There's no quarantine or duty for cats passing through the border. You
just need to have them cased, have a current rabies certificate, and a
recent vet bill of health.

In that case, Washington State, Idaho & Northern Oregon qualify.....
Thank you.  Any Pacific Northwest takers?

IOW... You're a nut-case. Sheeesh.. I swear, you people don't know when
to quit. Good intentions are nice, but you take things beyond the
limits of normalcy and practicality! You just have to realize and
accept the fact that you can't save them all. The sooner you understand
this, the better it will be for your mental state in the long run. And
then maybe we won't be watching you on TV standing there in your
bathrobe at 2:30 in the afternoon, sobbing about your 'poor babies',
while your 500+ malnourished Katz are being rounded up by the animal
police.

Have you ever heard the story of the starfish thrower, IBen?

This guy is walking down a beach at low tide, and he sees a stranger
coming from the other direction, picking up starfish and throwing them
into the water as he makes his way along.

"What ho, stranger!" says the guy.  "Why are you throwing these
starfish into the ocean?"

"Well, son, I wish to save them from the blistering sun, which shall
be upon them anon."

"That's ridiculous!" cried the man.  "Starfish are intertidal
creatures, meant to be exposed a low tide.  What gives here, anyway?"

The stranger paused for a moment.

"Ok, I'll confess," he said finally.  "I am a developer, and I own
this stretch of waterfront.  The Dept. of Wildlife is coming this
afternoon and these particular starfish are an endangered species."

The moral of the story, of course, is that you can't get the goddamn
government off your back.  It really doesn't matter if you're a rich
developer or a crazy cat lady.

Yup, I'm a nutcase allright....  Truly MAD to think I might be able to
find 2 cats a home & donate some time and effort to make it happen.

What was I thinking?

Nah, you're doing the right thing. Thye deserve to be moved form their
current home gracefully, if they must be.  There's no point taking
them to the shelter.  You can hang on to them for a short while, since
you do know cats.  One possibilty is cat breeders, yes those who bring
up pedigreed cats.  They do their best for ALL cats and have a network
of people who care for the critters. I mean BREEDERS, not kittenmills!

Good Luck.. <g>
