They want me to register to read this.

What did it say?

I found out my cat likes waffles. (just crumbs, no syrup)
mylenecqfarias@gmail.com - 25 Jul 2005 18:57 GMT
My cat likes chocolates. I do not eat much of it. Once a month or so.
But, if he sees me eating he runs to me immediately. His previous owner
used to give him peanut butter. I, particularly, do not think this is
very good for him. So, I only give him a tiny tiny little piece.

For thos ethat cannot view it - the article in todays Times in the UK is as
follows -

Why cats do not like chocolate
           By Mark Henderson

CATS cannot taste sweet things because of a newly identified
genetic mutation.
Pet owners have long known that while dogs are fond of sweet
treats, cats are indifferent. The lack of a sweet tooth is not confined to
domestic cats: lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars are known to share it.

Researchers in the US and Britain have now pinpointed a
peculiarity in feline DNA. Cats never develop the sweetness receptors that
exist on the tongues of other mammals.

The findings will be used to create better-tasting catfood.
Joseph Brand, of Monell Chemical Senses Centre in Philadelphia, a member of
the research team, said: "No wonder cats are cranky. Not only do they have
to hunt for their food, but they also can't enjoy a sweet dessert." In
mammals, the sweetness receptor is made up of two protein sub-units, known
as T1R2 and T1R3, each of which is produced by a gene of the same name. In
cats a small stretch of DNA is missing in the T1R2.

The results are published today in the open-access journal
Public Library of Science Genetics

I wonder if they make bloody meat flavored cat food.

I know I told this, but it's been so long ago

I fed a stray raw meat for 2 days. on the 3rd night. he was trying to
hump my arm while I was sleeping.

I flicked him off, and as soon as I dozed off again, he was back at it!

after about 2 more flicks, I put him outside.

I think it was the raw meat that gave him all the energy.

Please, do not give your cat *any* chocolate.  Please google "cats and
chocolate," and you will find a number of sites that explain the toxic
effect that chocolate (sometimes even small amounts) can have on cats.  If
he really likes it all that well, get some of the cat treats that have an
artificial flavor that is supposed to emulate chocolate.

Baking / cooking chocolate - very dangerous. If your cat ate a single
square, it would probable kick the bucket.

Milk chocolate - not so dangerous, but not exactly safe to feed. If
your cat ate an entire small bar, it would probably join the choir
invisible. If your cat ate an entire small bar, in the sense of a
tavern, it would also be unhappy although not due to theobromine.

White chocolate - safe. Your cat could probably eat a truckload and
still be living, albeit spherical.

Obviously cats can process some sugar, but I would think chocolate is
one thing (cocoa)

in the case of milk chocolate, it has less cocoa in it than dark. (I
mean, I know you know that, but, what about all that sugar.) do people
feed their cats lots of sugar?

This issue has entirely bugger all to do with sugar.

The link requires registration. In my opinion, you should always give
a small relevant quotation when you post a link/reference.

Apparently chocolate can kill dogs, just in case the idea of giving
chocolate to a dog pops up. I guess that problem does not apply to
cats.
