Phil,

Just back from the vet and Betsy's biopsy.  When the vet cut through the
layer of fat to biopsy the growth, up popped something that she says was a
ball/bunch/glob of fat. ( not sure exactly which word she used)  She said
she felt around further, looking for other "lumps" but found nothing else
but more fat.  She set this blob aside, but doesn't feel it is anything more
that fat.   What'd'ya think?

I have a cat with an "unusually located fat deposit". When he was
about 12 or 13, we noticed a lump. If you took a grape and slided it
in half lengthwise, that is about the size of the lump, and it feels
like jello under his skin. I was really afraid it was something bad
and took him to the vet. They did a biopsy, and looked at the sample
under the microscope. Came back and said it was just an unusually
located fat deposit. Nothing to worry about. It's weird, since he is a
very lean cat. It's probably the only fat on him. When he was at the
vet back in April, the vet was concerned with him being underweight.
He's 17 now and was always lean in his prime and is now quite hard to
keep weight on. I did finally find a treat that keeps him at a good
weight now.

Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if it was just fat. Did they look at
the sample under the micrsope. That would be an easy way to tell. My
vet was satisfied after only a couple minutes. I was so relieved. I
was expecting to pay for expensive testing and waiting for days to
hear results. $22 and 10 minutes was all it took it know it was just
fat.

Meghan & crew....

Betsy has put on quite a bit of weight in the past 2 years.... but, there
were no other, obvious lumps and it *was* in a vaccination site... so, we
were fearing the worse.  I am sooo thankful for how this has turned out!
But, you know just how I feel after your scare.

Linda,

I think its *great* news!

Since the mass is already out, I'd still send it to a lab for
histopathologic examination just for the peace of mind.

Phil,

Thanks.  I do think we'll do that...... it's worth the small price for the
peace of mind.
