My two "plain" Tabbys just LOVE a nighttime snack of some Gerber baby
food (turkey, vegetable, and rice).  Together they eat about one
6-ounce jar every two days.  Their "regular" daily food is a rather
basic dry food.  On Sundays they split a small can of canned food as a
treat.  Could they be getting too much of the baby food?  Might this
create an imbalance in their diet, in any way?  Thanks for your
insights.

That sounds like a bit much to me.  Approximately what proportion is that of
their regular food -- and what do you normally feed?  (canned?  premium?0

One important point to watch for is that you *must not* feed them anything
that includes onions.  I know the all-meat Gerbers food is safe (turkey,
chicken, beef), but you need to read the list of ingredients very carefully
if it includes veggies.  Onions can be toxic to cats.  Here is an
explanation:  http://amos.indiana.edu/library/scripts/toxiconions.html

Make sure they get taurine in diet and not too much salt.

Also, I think baby food is great for when cats get really sick (ie
older cats who refuse to eat or really young kittens that are
struggling to survive).

One thought is that you might consider reserving something like baby
food for more rare occasions rather than a regular treat (since cats
love it)...and perhaps mention to your vet to make sure consistent use
of it as a treat is ok....

Why not give them some canned cat food daily instead of the baby food? It is
better for them on a daily basis.
