Wow. I wont go so far as to call him a douchebag. Apparently he is going
through a lot with his mom and his own personal situations...but...I am
really surprised that it has all come to this and that he couldn't be
honest in the first place.

I am trying to figure out how I have turned into a hate monger since his
sweet emails
of two weeks ago.

In any case, I knew that if I kept up the pressure in rpca asking him to
come
forward he would. Anyone too weak to be honest about picking up Conan
would have to fold like a cheap suit given a little push. And he did. That
at
least is rather gratifying.

I am getting the feeling that old Dan may not be the sharpest knife in the
drawer. :)

I don't know if Dan will read this, but I think the issue is that
people secretly took it upon themselves to judge those who wanted to
adopt Conan.  If you judge someone, you're going to cause hurt feelings,
and Dan or any other "rational grown adult" should know this.  The
result is that Conan still doesn't have a home, that we know of, which
gets more people's dander up.
I'm at a loss as to why Dan doesn't understand the reasons people are
upset.  Not understanding the degree to which they got upset, maybe, but
otherwise this seems pretty obvious.

Nope. He won't communicate with anyone who has asked.

Nope. He won't communicate with anyone who has asked.

That's because....He won't communicate with anyone who has asked.

> I don't know if Dan will read this, but I think the issue is that

And Dan lied about any involvement. And Dan betrayed
several people that trusted him. And the cat is still in a cage.

One would think so!

That's the main problem. Two weeks later, they don't have
a clue what to do with the cat.

It should be obvious to a human being......But Dan"s a douchebag.

Well, take a look at his follow up post. He started getting threatening
letters and phone calls. I'd say he was absolutely right to just stop
communicating. That was BEFORE the (OMG *GASP* NO) resuce of Conan from the
KILL shelter. If you are going to kiss and tell. Tell all yourself.

He also didn't say that he knew who was communicating with him BEFORE he
went for Conan. Maybe it was the same people who were calling the shelter
and trying to put the kibosh on the whole rescue NOT Mary or anyone that was
trying to work with her to rescue this cat. It makes no logical sense
otherwise. What possible motive would Mary have to threaten Dan at that
point.

Dan didn't stop communicating at that point either. He wove that wonderful
story about getting to the shelter too late and then he stopped
communicating. Ya know a simple, I got the cat, I'm being threatened and
don't want any further involvement and a mail rule blocking incoming would
have done the trick without the drama and still maintained credibility.

But that's just my 2¢

I only know my personal experiences with Mary over the space of a year or
two on internet and I find her completely unstable in her with her switch
and bait tactics. She has also tried to intimidate me with posting in such a
way as to let me know that SHE knows personal information about me. Would
she act on it? Maybe not, but I know that she regularly uses this type of
pyschological strong arming. IMO there is little difference between her and
what she is complaining about in regards to others. I"m sorry, but in MY
experience with her, well, let's just say I wouldn't trust her as far as I
could throw her and I don't blame Dan for beginning to get leary once odd
things started happening.

What amazes me is how while everybody *talks* as though they are worried
about Conan and one has to wonder. He is NOT going to be euthanized, he will
find a home that is going to be apparently better than good -(considering
what we do know about this situation) and the goal was achieved. But people
can't seem to focus on THAT at all. Instead they are just SCAAAANdalized
about everything. Hello? What is the truly bottom line important thing?
Conan is OK. I"m sorry, but wherever he is being boarded is probably leagues
better than a **county kill shelter** and a home is being actively sought. I
would think that is what should matter.

Karen. Honey. I am sorry you are so stupid. You got mad at me for telling
Tanada (Pam S.) that all she had to do was remove rpca from the groups line
if she did not want crossposts there--at the time when Grant was dying.

The rest is just the same old bullshit. You know better, but you won't back
down. You know that you are wrong--and that neither you nor anyone else
here or anywhere has any reason to mistrust me--but you will never admit
it. You lack character. It's not a crime, but I feel sad for you.

The problem with him being boarded is that it's not somewhere people
normally look when they are interested in adopting a cat. I'd rather see him
in a no kill shelter where he could be seen and then totally neutral people
would be vetting prospective adopters.

Dan offered to try to get him into the Redlands no-kill shelter if we could
not
find him a home right away. I wonder if he even tried.

If he's in a boarding facility it isn't a place that people browse when
looking for a cat. If he has been put in a no kill shelter then yay!

He is in Four Paws Kennel, just around the corner from Dan's house in
Highland.
Google it, and you can see the same floors etc. as we saw in the photos

I definitely agree with that. Cut out the newspaper ads and just get
into a shelter where his life isn't in danger, and he will be seen by
potential adopters.

He's not going to entice somebody to adopt him unless he can grab
their heart in person. And the longer it takes, the harder it will be.

I was told today that Monica did not place the ads.

It sounds like somebody else was interfering, either to make her look
bad, or keep the flames going. I hope the newspaper will release who
did it. We don't need extra stuff like this brought it to make things
worse.

I had assumed they did (print ads aren't free) and just now went and clicked
on place an add and they asked for a credit card # so it seems they do. I
didn't go any further to find out how much.

I see. Then the ad is connected to a name on a credit card. Would they even
allow someone to post an ad and give another contact name?

My guess would be Phillip. He seems to be enjoying this whole mess,
and he was getting upset back when it looked like the rescue was going
to succeed. I don't think he cares what happens to Conan, or who look
sgood or bad, as long as the argument continues.

I would be surprised if he was the one who called the shelter. If
there were threats made to Dan before the rescue took place, then he
would be the most likely to do it. And I wouldn't be surprised if he
placed the newspaper ads.

Karen ... are you really saying the lateral move from a cage in a kill
shelter to a cage in a no-kill shelter is better?  REALLY ... what a
concept!  It's so simple!

It is not a done deal. The money is adding up, and sooner or later
they will have to stop.

They aren't going to want to admit failure, so unless they find a good
home soon, they will probably just put him in a shelter, and then
euthanasia could be a possibilty again.

We can't say that that the goal was achieved until it is done. It
hasn't happened yet, so we can't know for sure what will happen.

I am really worried that they will get frustrated and just dump him
rather than admit failure.

One fine day
in the middle of the night

Two dead boys
got up to fight

back to back
they faced each other

drew their swords
and shot one another

if you don't believe
this lie is true

ask the blind man
he saw it too

I haven't heard that in....
well, it's been a while. lol

As I was walking to St Ives
I met a man with seven wives
He tipped his hat, Andrew his
cane, and in this tale I told his name.

We had a terrible storm here,
I had to un-plug everything
(everything)...Im back now!

It's really great to goto sleep in the storm
and wake back up and you're still there.

It's soo quiet in here.

The truth is, and this is sad.

I'm with you, sister. Mary tried this kind of nonsense with me too. Didn't
bother me, I've been on usenet over 20 years now...nothing really surprises
me about the insanity that goes on  in some poster's minds. But I think Mary
can be dangerous, and as I said earlier, I don't blame Dan one bit for
deleting her drivel unread. I would too. She's in my killfile of course, so
I don't see anything anymore, and that does make for a much more enjoyable
newgroup in my opinion. But again, I agree with you Karen 100%.

Here is the gist of the matter, my little pinheads: it does not matter how
you
feel about me. All of my interactions with Dan were witnessed by Tracy,
Rhonda
and Charlie. They know exactly what was said. You, Marjorie, and you, Karen,
are just really stupid people.Happily, you are ineffectual people.

When I told you exactly what happened, you swore it was a lie. Dan has
since verified that everything I said was true.

I understand that you are both unhappy people, If I were you I would be
unhappy too.. However, none of that changes what Dan did--and he did
it to the groups of us who tried to help Conan, and the group standing
ready with funds (who will remain unnamed, you know who you are)
to help make his home a reality.

You will be much better off if you can accept the fact that people
like me will never pay much attention to people like you, and will
always do exactly as we please no matter what you say. It is the
way of the world. You are petty, dull, dimwitted whiners. Sneering,
resentful, petty losers. Insignificant humans who can do nothing
more than nourish your resentment for those who are both happier
and more successful than you.

I am sorry this is true. It has to suck to be you. But it is your
choice. You have made yourselves everything you are.

Several of these posts have been empty. All the old stuff is quoted,
but nothing new.

Is there a problem with the posting? It only seems to be from some
people.

The last five empties were from:

Anepanigas, Bulle, Aphersiry, Bingly, and Thruts.

Are other people seeing new text from them, or do you just get the
quoted material also?

My guess is Dan finally grew balls and fessed up because the pressure is too
much for him.  He has no idea what to do with Conan.  Monica can't help much
being in Canada and as he said he's got stuff happening (real or imaginary).
He needs his bumbuddies over at rpca to nurse him, but that's difficult when
the storms are brewing.  So, instead of being a man and saying listen guys I
messed up, I got caught up in a dirty scheme but I'll do what's right now,
he concocted a bullshit story about threatening phone calls and e-mails.
Spineless.  Who knows maybe he's in need of more cash for whatnot and is
having a pity party of one in hopes that donations will start flying his way
again.  It must be hard being pimped out to do someone else's dirty work for
free.

Thank you, Mary, for confirming the suspicion that you are getting great
personal pleasure of belaboring this issue.  The second paragraph,
indeed, is especially indicative of how this must be satisfying, since
apparently it gives you a sense of power and invulnerability you must
long for otherwise.

Of course, Nocturne REALLY has those qualities.  Still, there is a fine
example from AA Milne and the Kingston Trio, of one who thinks they have
the power you, of course, possess:

James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George DuPree
Took great care of his mother though he was only three
James James said to his mother:
"Mother," he said, said he
"You must never go down to the end of the town,
if you don't go down with me.
Don't ever go down to the end of the town,
if you don't go down with me."

James James Morrison's mother put on her golden gown
James James Morrison's mother, she drove to the end of the town
James James Morrison's mother
She said to herself, said she
"Well, I can get down to the end of the town
And be back in time for tea.
Well, I can get down to the end of the town
And be back in time for tea."

King John put up a notice: "Lost, stolen or strayed,
James James Morrison's mother,
She seems to have been mislaid
Wandering vaguely all about quite of her own accord
She tried to get down to the end of the town--
Forty shillings reward.
She tried to get down to the end of the town--
Forty shillings reward.

James James Morrison Morrison, commonly known as "Jim"
Said to his other relations not to go blaming him
For James James said to his mother
"Mother", he said, said he
"Don't ever go down to the end of the town,
If you don't go down with me.
You must never go down to the end of the town,
If you don't go down with me."

Now James James Morrison's mother,
She hasn't been heard of since,
King John sent down to give his regrets,
And so did the queen and the prince,
King John, somebody told me,
Said to a man he knew,
"If people go down to the end of the town,
Well what can anyone do?
If people go down to the end of the town,
Well what can anyone do?"

assumptions.

Perhaps he shoudl have somebody look into and track it down. It sounds
like it would be very interesting to know who was threatening him.
Nobody in Mary's group had any reason to since it seemed to be going
as planned. It had to be somebody who wanted to stop the plan.

Tell Dan to ask to report it to his phone company. Especially, if
there are more than 3 calls. That will take it to the police, and they
can find out who really did make those calls.

I agree. Dan has my telephone number, and has heard my voice as I
called him and spoke with him, at his invitation. I am very interested to
know who called him and threatened him. I'd like to see those
threatening emails, too.

Rubbish.   You better START with Bloody Mary and The Minions!

What's the motive?

Why would somebody threaten another person if they thought they were
working together on a plan? That makes no sense.

I see motive for after the plan went south. But not before.

All of my communications with Dan have been aboveboard, and all
have been cordial--even after the fact.

Only to prove in print that you are two faced backstabber. That Mary can
turn on a dime is an understatement. Bipolar.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out it was Philip.  I remember
all his nasty posts when the rescue idea was first started, telling
Mary and others that they would fail to rescue Conan, etc.

I work for a phone company. It requires a court order to get a trap on a
line and then only calls after that can be tracked without a great deal of
effort. Trust me, probably no sheriff or judge would issue an order on this
account unless it became chronic. Everyone thinks this is such a simple
procedure because of TV. It really is not and it requires some cost.

Very interesting. Several years ago, shortly after I got my new phone
line, I had somebody calling me every day, thinking I was somebody
else. I told them several times to look up my name in the phone book,
call the phone company, whatever. Just verify that this is *my* phone
number, not the person you are looking for, and leave me alone.

I complained to the phone company, and they told me to do the *69
three times and then let them know. If it was the same phone number 3
times, they would take care of it for me. They took care of it.

You know, the only person I have heard of making nasty calls in this
group has been the other Megan. Zuzu22@webtv.net. She has been
terribly quiet lately, too. Hmmm.
