Our Bengal Louis seems happy enough. He's friendly, is eating, and
plays lustfully. He's had marking problems, but they seem to be under
control for the moment.

Tonight, however,  I noticed that his underbelly, from about the last
rib to his hip, is not nicely spotted but only under-fur.

Is this normal for Bengals? Or could he be compulsively grooming?

Thanks as always for any info.

passes away.  I have never noticed a lack of fur on their bellies.  One
question for you though... I know you came on here for your own
advice... but I am really interested to know how you got your bengal to
stop peeing???

I have a post under Cat Pee Problem !!!HELP!!!

Any adive would help...

It's a tenouous equilibrium we've reached. There's a litterbox in
front of the closet door he likes to pee on, filled with Cat Attract.
The bathroom that he's marked is closed most of the time (though we
open it when we're in the area and can supervise him). He's stopped
marking in other spots where he's done so.

The plan is to slowly inch the litterbox away from the door (in our
front hallway). Maybe we can get it back in the basement, maybe we'll
just need to keep it on the first floor. But Louis is increasingly
calmer.

Bengals, like other pure-breds, seem to me to be pretty nervous and
skittery. A little disruption can freak them out.

Luckily we have a good barometer for when he's stressed. If you pet
him, and he cringes and goes flat, then he's worried about something.
You can also call his name, and watch his reaction. If the tail goes
up and he rubs against something, he's fine. if the tail stays down,
there's a chance he's upset about something.

Ruprecht always lays his big fat a.s down, he l u v s to get rubs.

I give him little refreshers, all the time. He hounds me for them; he rolls
over on his back

(Big easy slut)...lol

Ah, well, you know your cat, and I tell ya, biting is a good thing.

For aggression, they show teeth, and growl (it's so cute)...

Ruprecht flops his tail around when he's happy.

I scoop him up; lay him high on my shoulder. He loves it.

He does get ornery sometimes, I just leave him alone.

Other times I just take him from whatever he's doing so he can come and
snuggle.

Have you snuggled your cat today. All this shedding hair is killing me! I
gave him 2 baths in 2 days. He needs and executive haircut.

Dude - where can I get what you're smoking? Sounds like Primo.

I have heard great things about this product. Hopefully they carry it
at the pet store... I'm going in the morning.

We have to lock poor Brody out of our bedroom and bathroom. He has his
own room and bathroom... but he never seems to 'act up' in there. We
have to micrmanage his every move in these areas too. Isn't it fun
existing at the mercy of your cat? =)

Do you only have one litter box? Have you tried keeping a litter box on
each level of your home? Sometimes kittys can't wait that long to go!
=) Nonetheless... it's good to have two litter boxes for one cat... so
I've heard. General rule= 1 more box than cats in your home.

My Brody does this too. Maybe it's a Bengal thing? We just thought he
hated being touched! =) It's awesome that you can read Louis' emotions.
That must make things a lot easier. Hopefully one day we will be able
to figure out Brody's as well... moody little thing!

...As for Louis... & his belly... I was reading this kitty healthcare
magazine today... and there are two products that might be good for
your kitty. The is one called "Itch Stop's"... and another called "Pet
Solution Rx"... incase Louis has cuts, scrapes, burns... etc... incase
the excessive grooming(?)/biting gets out of control. Hope that
helps...  Thanks for all your helpful info... =)

There are two in the basement and one upstairs - we have two cats.

Like I said, purebreds are a little more neurotic than moggies.

We've finally determined that his belly is fine - my wife assures me
it's always been like that.

As for the peeing issue - keep looking through this newsgroup, there
are a lot of good little suggestions dropped here and there. Sadly,
this isn't an unusual problem to have, but there are lots of options.

I'd also mention that we have two Feliway diffusers going in the house
as well. This seems to help quite a bit with keeping everyone calm.
And also with a bengal, you need to make sure they have a LOT of
playtime. We have one cat which keeps Louis occupied for a couple
hours every day, but we also have to supplement by playing "fetch"
with a toy mouse throughout the day.

Good luck
