Hello all,
We recently acquired a new female kitten.  We currently have a
neutered, male cat who is almost 2 years old.  The kitten is about 3
months old.  We've noticed dry patches of blood by our male cat's
ears.  Last week it was the left ear; this week it's the right ear.
I'm concerned for him.  Is this a normal thing... for a young kitten
to bite ears and make them bleed?  She doesn't seem harmful in other
ways.  The boy cat will groom her occassionally, and they sometimes
cuddle together.  She'll pounce on him and such, but this just seems
like normal kitten overactiveness.  It's the biting and the bleeding
that I'm concerned about.  We haven't taken him to a vet yet, but
we're taking her in for her first visit this weekend and will inquire
about the behavior.  Also, we've never actually seen her biting his
ears, it just seems that she's the likely culprit (in play, she's more
rough with him than he is with her) and her ears seem fine.
