ok, not really sure on all the details, but best I can figure out....

Conan was up for some evaluation, possible death.

So people here, sent some guy to get Conan.

He says that when he got there, Conan was gone already.

So, wouldn't you all have been happy if this were the case??

Weren't you all waiting to see if he would get adopted by someone
local before acting? (pre-evaluation deadline)

You wouldn't have been getting updates on how he was doing if some
stranger had adopted him, would you?

Some cat abusing mental case *could* have adopted him, for crying out
loud!

So all the fuss is really kinda silly people.

You had time to act if you REALLY wanted to control what was going to
happen to him, and you waited.

Now it is out of your control.

Nothing like an uninformed opinion :>

Yep.

Yep

>He says that when he got there, Conan was gone already"

Yep. Turned out to be a fib.

>So, wouldn't you all have been happy if this were the case??"

Depends what happened to him and where he went.

>Weren't you all waiting to see if he would get adopted by someone
>local before acting?"

Nope. We were waiting (all of TWO DAYS) to see if we had a home for him
to go to. The idea was not to move him around for fun, but to place him
in a permanent, loving home directly from the shelter. I don't like
schlepping cats from one temporary situation to another - it is very
stressful for them and the cat had been through enough of it already.
Unfortunately, the newsgroup got all wiggy and started calling the
shelter and carrying on about people from the Internet going to do this
and that and it became necessary to look at taking him out before the
adoption interviews could be completed.

>You wouldn't have been getting updates on how he was doing if some
>stranger had adopted him, would you?

I doubt it.

>Some cat abusing mental case *could* have adopted him, for crying out
>loud!

Yep.

>So all the fuss is really kinda silly people.

Not really. Had the current rescuers stayed out of it, then the cat
would already be re-homed, in either what seemed a perfectly sufficient
one bedroom condo in San Diego, or with the sister of a regular,
respected poster in Washington, or in rural Washington - depending how
the interviews shook out. Instead, he's still homeless, and a lot of
people's time, energy and good will was wasted - including a travel
agent who
spent half a day arranging an airpass, a woman who pay-pal'd money
across the country to someone she had never met, and three people who
tried to open their hearts to a cat in need. I've said over and over
again that I don't *think* it's a tragedy - I am assuming someone will
*eventually* come along who will meet the lofty standards, or the
current custodians will run out of boarding or foster care options and
have to find someone acceptable. But I am not going to pretend that it
isn't a duplicated effort, an unnecessary effort and a significant
delay in the goal of placing the cat in a home of his own.

>You had time to act if you REALLY wanted to control what was going to
>happen to him, and you waited.

What hopefully was going to happen to him was a nice, smooth transfer
into a properly vetted home. Not a long tenure waiting in yet another
temporary situation. I didn't want to CONTROL EVERYTHING at the expense
of shuffling the cat about to yet another living situation that he
would have to adjust to and then lose (or more - depending how long
this process goes on.  If he's still at the board and care, that would
be $140 plus and counting, so he may already have been transferred
again or will be shortly). It's annoying to see when it didn't need to
happen. And people endlessly carrying on about the incredibly special
cat they've never actually met who needs this incredibly large house,
turning down homes without a care in the world as if there weren't
about a million more cats in the world than there are
"acceptable-to-me" homes .... it really doesn't make much sense.

> Now it is out of your control.

Yep.

If it had remained in my control, it would be over. But it didn't so
.... the saga continues of Conan, the homeless cat.

If your stupid-a.s friend Mary hadn't posted that the cat was a lost
cause then maybe others wouldn't have stepped in.  She - and she alone
- f.cked up the plan, so quit blaming people who actually DID something
rather than sit on their a.ses and let the cat be euthanized.  Sheesh.

Secondly, you have no idea if Dan was invoved, where Conan is (boarding
facility or otherwise), so stop it with the "poor Conan" BS.

In the presence of Mary (in particular), the bitch fighting takes
precedence ... sorry to say.

Lyn's early contributions during my early days of Bengal research
and with Conan's first week-ten days illness were most helpful.
Lyn also demonstrates lessons learned in the nasty and political
incorrect realities of end life experiences and health decisions
regarding cats.

Might as well make you apology to her.

his/her? I'm a male. I guess on here, you never know what you might run
into.

You could set the tone here, if you would just stop fornicating with
anyone who DISAGREES WITH MARY

It's all about Mary with you.

You got a string of posts a mile long, about Mary. I don't think you
like her at all.

Your idea of a quality post is someone who attacks Mary.

hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehheeheheh

That's not laughing, it's a machine gun.

Mary stood up to you, that's why you have such a hard on for her.

Well, that was kind of my point. If a local stranger had adopted
Conan, you would not know what happened to him.

I was referring to the 2 weeks (06/14/2005 - 06/28/2005) that Conan
was at the OC shelter (in a cage, I am sure)
Everyone here was waiting to see if he was adopted locally before they
acted.

All that mattered before was saving the cats life.
If you really wanted to be in control of the adoption process, Conan
was in the OC shelter for 2 weeks prior to being sprung.

We cannot know, in any case. With anyone who adopts, there
might be initial PR crap, but we don't know what really happens.
The point was to get him out of the shelter and into a home. A
secondary point is that it has not been necessary to observe the
restrictions Monica (Dan Mahoney, actually, since he has him)
has placed upon potential adoptors, such as square footage, etc.
She is obviously using him as an object with which to bolster
her own self esteem and "image" as a Wonderful Cat Placer.
Others, like Jonathan's mom Lyn the Single-eybrowed lout,
are using him to stick it to those of us who care about him.

You can also use the term "uni-brow" and get the same effect...even a
little better. ;)

Hee! I stole that from a guy in one of the political groups I
participate in. He and I are on the same side of the fence
and he responded to one of our opponents by saying,
"Of all the single-eyebrowed ideas ..." :) I do like unibrow, too.
