Asthmatic, Allergic, and EGC Cats ...

Our vet visit went well yesterday. The senior vet gave Cheeks her Depo
Medrol shot, and confirmed that she had little congestion and NO linear
granuloma (bumps!) on the backs of her legs. This when she had not had a
Depo Medrol shot since MARCH!

Upshot: if your cat has allergies , asthma, or EGC, keep trying different
combinations of food and eliminating possible allergens. It pays off. At
first she was having attacks every two months. But now that I found the
right food for her system, and got rid of lots of potential allergens, she
is much much better. Sadly, one reason is that I stopped opening the window
for her in June, so she's not getting ozone and summer pollens. (She has
several perches and can still look out, but it just gets too hot with the
window open AND by keeping it closed I can limit her allergens. The doctor
says I should never open the window for her but I can't resist in the spring
and fall.)

When I asked if there was anything else I could do for her he told me
"no--unfortunately we have no idea why cats get this complex, so we don't
know how to prevent it." (Meaning the EGC mostly, but they all go together,
it seems.)

I would suggest a hepa filter as an addition to your home.  Especially one
in the room she spends the most time in.  I had a hepa filter and ran an air
conditioner for a cat I had years ago that developed severe asthma.  It
helped her tremendously and the doctor is right no outside air for her if
you want to keep her healthly.

Hi Celeste! I have them in our bedrooms and my office, the places she hangs
out
the most. Thank you. I love our HEPA filters.
