I have been reading about Conan along with everyone else.  I have read three
posts now and am not certain how Conan got rescued, where he is at now, and
who is going to adopt him?

Who were the two groups?

Who adopted him anon?

I don't ask this to stir the pot--sincerely interested.

Now, if we can turn all this energy to all the other abandoned kitties.

Thanks,
Jen

Ooooooooooo  WOW!  You've been reading along with everyone else ... all
THREE posts.  I'm impressed.  I would not be surprised if the various Conan
threads compiled is in excess of one thousand posts!
Jen M. - 01 Jul 2005 23:29 GMT
I could have explained myself more clearly--the three recent threads on the
first page I meant.  Very kind and gentlemanly of you to be of assistance and
contribute positively and not jumping on the smart-a$$ train.

Sincerely,
Jen

Don't fret over it, Jen. Phil Arthur caused the whole mess, and is just
disappointed that you didn't get drawn into reading all his posts. He
lives for the attention, he's got little besides.

FTR, I knew exactly what you meant!

I started crunching this very thing last Sunday ( I think )

I isolated your posts with the "Find" and "Move to other folder"
feature in my reader, this created a *.dbx file. You can open any file
in Excel, which I did.

My goal was to use the "Auto Summary" in Word, to Summarize your
writings.
I extracted the text in a single manuever, I pasted the text into Word.

You alone posted over 7,800 words on the subject of Conan.

The "Auto Summary" was not fluid enough to share; but it certainly goes
without saying you did in fact express your regret for having to return
him.
You took no delight in having to return him, and you definetely took
alot of heat for it.

Now I believe Mary when she said it made her cry. I didn't know that
until the other day. In retro, I think it is positive that everyone's
views have been abundantly represented. Everyone does not see life
through the same eyes; different backgrounds, different priorities etc.

How hot was hot today? Damn Hot! lol

Jen--a lady named Monica and some of her friends rescued
Conan with Dan's help. It did not matter to anyone who got him
out of there, that I know of. Some people did not want him to be
adopted by Charlie Wilkes, due to some weird posts he made, so
those people may not have wanted me to rescue him, since I thought
Charlie would be fine.

In the end, it's a win for everyone. He is now in California, and
Monica has told me that several people are interested in adopting
him. One I know of is local, and one is our Meghan Noecker's
sister. There may be others. Monica and her friends paid his
adoption fee and do not want donations toward his upkeep--
or transportation, though I am not sure he will be transported.
She asked that everyone give to their favorite shelters.

So--he is in safe, loving hands, being petted and pampered,
and out of that shelter. I remember Monica from years back,
and she appears to be very trustworthy. I have no doubt she
will try her very best to find him the best home possible.
Maybe ... just maybe we will get some updates from whoever
does take him! I really want to see him happy and healthy and
in his new home.
Jen M. - 02 Jul 2005 00:52 GMT
Thanks for the up-date all!  I am pleased that Conan is going to a good home.

Sincerely,
Jen

It has to be because they have nobody to transport him. I guess TracyRose
could help, but in fact it would be best to spare him the traveling. Please
tell her thank you from those of us who care about this cat.

Rhonda was still up to trying. And if there wasn't a rush, then I'm
sure she could have come up with a pass.

I was told it was because he wouldn't be able to look out windows, and
her finances aren't good. I guess I won't call it a basement again as
it never occured to me that it would be perceived as windowless or
small. She's got half a house. (and two huge windows). And she is poor
right now, but she's only working one job right now, so that means she
has the time to do a good introduction and supervision.

It's over though, so no more what-ifs. I will tell my sister tomorrow
to start looking elsewhere. I've been checking the local craiglist
this evening. It's mostly kittens, pairs, and declawed cats. She just
wants a single cat, adult, but still pretty active, and definitely
with claws. Whisper is looking for a rough play kind of buddy. Booper
plays, but not rough, so he doesn't like it. He'd rather just snuggle.

We'll find somebody. And this story did get her interested in finding
Whisper a buddy, so it will get another cat rescued.

Great!  And it's been some story, that's for sure, and who knows if
we'll ever know the whole story?!?!?!?!  It's a Made for TV movie in
the making...

Actually, it'd make a pretty good indie film, just bizarre enough to be
very original and quirky.  Lots of colorful characters.  Some of the
audience would think it was farfetched...

Who can write the script? And who can market it to an indie studio?
Charlie?

Yes, I argued back a bit, and after being told that I am bitter, she
asked why my sister didn't email herself and argue her case.

Well, I thought we were trying not to nag and and hert email sounded
like a final decision to me. I guess my sister was supposed to beg
after being told she wasn't good enough. I thought the refusal
straightforward, didn't realize it was still part of a negotiation.

It is over now. She has a lead on another cat, might see him tomorrow.

I'm not too happy with my theory of what happened, so I may just buzz
off for awhile. I can't stop thinking about him, and that just brings
me down more.

I'll let you know if my sister gets the other cat. He sounds like a
good playmate for Whisper.

Don't do that, Meghan. You're one of the good guys.

It is upsetting, but unfortunately, people can do this to cats.
We've all learned a valuable lesson here. Each of us can decide
for ourselves what that lesson is.

My heart just aches for this cat, who has now been in a cage
for five days.

It is a great place to live. When I was younger, we moved from Seattle
to Iowa and lived there for 4 years. Good jobs were scarce, so we
moved back to Seattle.

I will eventually get a place with some land as I want to have horses.
But I will definitely stay in the same area. We do have some hot and
cold, but not in the extreme.

Yup, there it is.  Mapquest confirms.  But my edition (current) of Delorme
Street Atlas does not list "Seatac".  I'll drop Delorme a note.

No big deal. Everytime I place a phone order, the person questions it.
They just assume I mean Seattle since everybody has heard of that one.

And UPS still changes our address to Kent since our house is on the
Kent route. Our house is on the very edge of Seatac, a couple blocks
east, south, or west will get you into Kent or Des Moines.

What's really funny is that Seatac Mall is not in Seatac. They finally
changed the name of the mall this past year.

I found the problem.  You misspelled your town's name.  My Delorme Street
Atlas software gives the spelling as TWO words.  Sea Tac.   Ever eat at the
Bull Pen Publ Bar & Grill near S. 200th on International?  LOL

I've never seen it as 2 words. Some places, they capitalize the T, but
even the official city website lists it as one word.

I've never been to the Bull Pen myself. I have asthma, so I don't go
anywhere that allows smoking. But I know where you mean.

Next time you run into a postal / UPS problem, try "Sea Tac".  It may well
be the "work-around" that gets you your letter/package delivered.
friesian@zoocrewphoto.com - 05 Jul 2005 20:52 GMT
> Next time you run into a postal / UPS problem, try "Sea Tac".  It may well

There's never been any problem. My packages still arrive on time. We
live on the edge of Seatac (yes, it really is one word). So, my
packages go to the Kent Dsitribution center. And the trucke goes up the
hill from Kent, past our house (in Seatac), and then turns south at the
top of the hill, back into Kent. So, it is just easier for them to put
our packages on the Kent truck. So, they cross out Seatac and write
Kent on the label. We still have the best UPS service around. If it's
not there by 9:15am, it ain't coming. Most packages arrived between
8:55 and 9:05 am. We are litterally at the beginning of their route.

And no, I will not write it as two words. That is how the airport is
written, not the city. I am not going to deliberately misspell my own
city. Nor have I had any reason to in the last 15 years.
Rhonda - 06 Jul 2005 00:41 GMT

It would probably just be for a couple weeks. I know I should just
stay off for awhile, but I keep hoping that we will at least hear
something.

It's just not doing me any good to get all stressed over this. I keep
feeling sick, and that's not helping anything.

Even tonight, my sister said she was nervous about checking out the
new possible cat as she is sure Conan will become available as soon as
adopts a different cat. It's all my fault for suggesting Conan to her.

Meghan,

I'm sorry this happened, and I hope your sister saves a cat that needs a

I'm sorry Meghan, I hope your sis finds a good buddy for her cat. I know
