Anyone got any horror stories about vets bilking a client?

Running excessive tests? Doing surgeries that ultimately ended in
death, and then after you think about it, the whole procedure should
have been avoided, or could have been avoided?

I know of one surgery, but do due to the circumstances it would be cold
and heartless for me to talk about it, or give any views on it;
however, I was angry when I heard about this needless surgery.

I happen to know first hand, that professionals sometimes tend to get
mechanized. I know that we are only human and sometimes we are just
plain ol' wrong!

Sure; there is always going to be a rotten apple, or someone who is
bilking, or running up a vet bill.

I know many of you have spent $1,000's of dollars for needed surgeries.

I wish I could talk about a certain story, but I am scared it will hurt
the person's feelings at this time; maybe in another year if I'm
still around. But what I read and heard? mmm mmm mmm, real Cracker Jack
vet!

sh.t. I could tell you stories about what happened to ONE cat
(mine, now RB) at the hands of a specialist. But I don't want to
dredge all that up again. :( Of course it was my fault.

I'm sorry.

I was thinking about you today, those pictures I seen! All the
experience you share with others. You have a really cool setup.

I figure it would be expensive to make the backyard safe too. I had a
customer once, who wanted an 8' tall fence, for their senior cat.

To me, if a matter is life threatening, and there is time, I would want
a second opinion.

I'm sure there will be thousand of stories. My cat, Poppie, suffered
for years from eye problems brought on by the herpes virus. At the
time, I did not realize that there were animal eye specialists. After,
many surgeries, ointments, drops, $$$ etc from a recent graduate of
cornell vet school, Poppie was seen by a substitute vet who immediately
recognized the eye problem. when my regular vet got back, he said, "I
must of been brain dead." yeah, I should say so. Poppie is dead now and
I have another cat with the same eye difficulties but now I take him to
an eye specialist 80 miles away. He's thriving under competent care.
