Tiger just had his Purevax rabies shot.  Is it still only good for one
year?  I can't trust my vet on this because she recommends ALL shots to
be given yearly.

Is he an inside kat? If so, what's the big deal...?

Purevax is only licensed for one year but the vaccines confer solid
protection for much longer.  Before re-vaccinating, you can have him
titer-tested to see if he actually needs it.  Most states don't accept
titer-testing in lieu of vaccinations. So, if your state requires yearly
rabies vax, his titer won't matter.  If your state allows 3-year vax, I'd go
with titers.

How does that work for the certificate? My vet uses Purevax, so if I go
for a titer and he doesn't need a shot, I assume I won't get a new
certificate, but the old certificate will have expired.

A vet can't issue a new certificate because the certificate must state the
date of vaccination and the vaccination expiration date as well as the type
of vaccine (1yr/3yr) and the vax serial (lot) number.

Titer testing is for the cat's benefit- not the law.  Titer testing won't
get around the law- but proving the cat has a protective titer would
probably save his life in the event he bit someone or was bitten.
