Hi, one of my kittens seems to have an eye problem. It was the last one to
open his eyes(at 16 days, 3 to 4 days later than the other ones). It opened
up the same day I cleaned his eyes with a special water. After some hours
they magically opened up. But one of his eyes, which always looked a little
weird even when it was completely closed remains half-closed. Is this usual?
Will it open up completely? The left side of the eye, right of his noose is
open, but the right side is closed. Better go to the vet i guess, but since
i can't make it there for some days is there something i can do meanwhile?

Thanks

I've had foster kittens who's eyes have taken a day or so to open
completely. They would partially open like you describe one day and then
open the rest of the way shortly thereafter. You could try gently wiping
with a warm, wet cloth so if there is anything sticking it closed it might
release. I would make the vet appointment though because you said you
thought it looked odd all along.

I'd call the vet's office, explain the situation, & ask to have the vet
call you back, for verbal advice.  In the meantime - as long as you
have the front desk on the phone, you could make an appt. & it'd be set
if it's needed.

One of our kittens' eyes would not open completely. It always looks like
it had a scab between the lids, even at less than a week old.

I would call the vet or take him or her in. Ours had an eye infection
and needed drops. It's best to clear this up right away if that's the
case, because it could cause permanent damage.
