I recently added a sunroom, and Holly and Duffy love it. Duffy spends a
tremendous amount of time on the cat tree, and Holly loves to move from
object to object in the room. I just posted several pictures in
alt.binaries.pictures.animals.

I wa thinking of getting a cat tree for one of my cats so he can hide from
the dog who loves to intimidate him, but someone told me they are unstable
and have a habit of falling over, my cat is quiet a big boy, his vet says
he's big boned lol and then adds he lives for food... Have you ever had a
problem with the tree falling over, I'd love to give this big guy a place to
survey the world away from the dog, he's not a climber but a tree at the
right height would be perfect.
Thanks

Some cat trees have that problem, but this one is particularly strong and
sturdy. It weighs approximately 90 pounds, comes fully assembled, and was
wrapped better than anything else I have ever ordered. I bought it from
www.createacatcondo.com. It is the second tree I have obtained from them,
and they are wonderful to work with. If you go to their web site, you will
see that you can customize your own tree to fit your specifications. The
price will be listed, based on what criteria you select; and shipping is
included in the price (a big "plus" when compared to other trees). Then
call them and place the order directly to make sure you get exactly what you
want. Mine is 4-tier, and I had one pole (the second-shortest one) covered
in sisal so it serves as a scratching post. The other poles are carpeted to
give Duffy a good climbing surface. They can also provide polished wood
(uncarpeted) poles if you prefer that. For example, that wouldn't matter
for Holly because she simply jumps from one bed to another; but Duffy needs
to be able to *climb* up and down because he can't see. I have a similar
tree in my computer room except that I added the "upight tunnel" as the
bottom level of that tree, and I had them add a foot of height (which did
not cost any extra).

To add to my previous message: some cat trees are made of cardboard
tunnels, and they can be very unstable. However, this one is solid wood,
very heavy, and each pole is securely bolted to the beds.

I can't tell you the number of times the dh looks at the cats on the cat
tree and comments that it was the best money he ever spent. I agree with
him. I should have gotten them one years ago. We've had it for 1 1/2 years
and it's still in really good shape so they do hold up well.

Oooh! Lucky kitties! I've always wanted a sunroom. I'm sure they
love the heat and lounging. Beautiful pictures of the furries.
Duffy still remains ... amazing ... and Holly as usual is just
gorgeous!

Thanks. Yes, "amazing" really does describe Duffy and they are both
gorgeous cats. Oddly, neither one (bus especially Duffy) was pretty when I
adopted them. Duffy had been in a shelter for several months and was really
scruffy. He looked like a little old man.
