This coming weekend is the 4th of July weekend. I don't know if the OC
Shelter is open on weekends, but if so they will probably be on a
different schedule for a holiday weekend. And I don't know if the
airlines get busy on the July 4 holiday - could you travel agents tell
us? Might that make a difference in terms of availability?

And thinking of that, I am going to be driving a truckload of fireworks
to Banning, CA on the 4th and returning the show equipment to the
factory afterwards. That will make me unavialable from about 9 PM on the
3rd to about 8 AM on the 5th. I'd cancel out on my show plans, but I've
already committed to driving this show, and my brother is the
pyrotechnician responsible for it! So let's see if we can get this done
before 9 PM Sunday, or after 8 AM Tuesday.

Of course it would be better for beautiful Conan if we could make it
happen before.

Yikes. Organizing things over the Internet is a production, isn't it?

First things first. Rhonda should see when she can get a flight that
includes space for Conan. If she can use her TA airpass, that is most
direct. If she can't, then I will talk to her about donating my FF
miles for the flight, but it sounds like she has other resources at her
disposal. I'm waiting to hear from her.

Based on the date of the flight, Dan can arrange to pick up the cat
that morning and if he's willing, just adopting the cat himself might
be the easiest scenario. I'm sure the shelter can hold the cat a few
days if the
adoption is set and guaranteed. If Conan is picked up, given to Rhonda
at the airport, and then delivered to Charlie in Seattle, then the
whole transport thing should be done and completed in six hours or so.

If this scenario works, then we'll take up collections for Conan's
airfare,
and any extra compensation for Rhonda, via Paypal. But lets get the
flight confirmed first.

It all sounds great!

Hi Dan,

Yes -- the 4th is busy for travel!

I really won't know any details until Monday regarding the flights.
Seats have to be open on a specific class for these passes, so I will
have to call American and play with the dates and times. Once I have
that booked -- I can book a spot for Conan (under the seat.) They allow
2 animals per cabin, so I also have to make sure that is available.
Probably mid-week will be easier to find seats, so I also will have to
make sure I can take that day off of work.

I can hold a reservation before locking everything in, so I will
definitely check if the dates work for you beforehand.

Thanks so much for helping!

Rhonda

Glad to be of assistance!

The easiest for me (and probably for Conan) would be if I could pick him
up at the shelter then drive him directly to the airport. I certainly
can put him up for a few days, but my crew (6 kitties, one of whom will
be freshly home from hospital) would not appreciate a 7th kitty, and I
assume that Conan might be freaked by being with 6 other kitties. I
would need to sequester Conan in the bathroom, which is certainly doable
but I doubt that Conan would enjoy it much.

Whichever way it works out, just let me know. We'll get this handsome
kitty together with his new human one way or another.
