Folks--
Many of the posts are not appearing on my server. I went to Google and saw,
for example, that Rhonda was going to call the shelter this morning. Had I
seen it I would not have called too!
Rhonda--did you call, and if so what did you find out?
Mary L.--I saw Kelly's reply to you but not your post re transporting Conan
over land. You probably have not read down far enough but it seems we have
TWO travel agents--Rhonda and Tracy Rose--who are willing to use their
benefits to help us get Conan where he needs to be. If I understand where we
are at the moment, IF the shelter okays adopting out-of-state, and IF Rhonda
can actually get on the plane, all we need is to collect $100 for Conan's
part. It seems to me that either Rhonda or Tracy, whoever is arranging the
flight, could set up a PayPal account and the many group members who have
expressed an interest in contributing can do so. Kelly H. is good for $25!
And I am covering his shelter fee plus whatever else Dan needs to get him,
gas and whatever.
What do you think?

Setting up new paypal accounts that allow you to pull out cash into a
bank account can a take a few days to get verified. Probably someone
with an existing fully verified (by Paypal) account would have the
most options on handling the cash without paypal restrictions.

Yes, I knew that Rhonda is a travel agent (but missed on Tracy Rose). I
just read some additonal messages from Rhonda, and it seems that she has
covered all the bases. I am really impressed with some of the arrangements
she has suggested. I suggested land transportation only as a possible
alternative if no one can be found to escort Conan and transport him in the
cabin of the aircraft. I have had very good experiences flying with my cats
in the cabin of a plane and also by car. Years ago (before I even knew that
cats could be taken in the cabin), I also sent one of my cats as "cargo" on
the same plane where I was traveling. He was incredibly sick each time!
After the third such trip, I decided that I would never again subject one of
my pets to that mode of transportation. It was about that time that I
learned that there are a few (but not many) airlines that permit pets to fly
in the cabin. That's the way I traveled for a number of years, then I began
to use my car instead. Of course (as I said in another message), those
were with cats that knew and trusted me -- and that can make all the
difference in the world in how well a cat travels.
