Hi, My cat has some weird habbits. I tried to give him treats, like
regular cat treats, he hates them!! He won't even eat tuna or shrimp or
anything like most cats. He loves his regular cat food and for treats
he will go nuts for angel food cake and blueberries.
I had a bowl of blueberries the other day and he sneaks up and takes a
mouth full and just finished off the whole bowl. I felt bad that I ate
so many myself before I realized he wanted some so I actually had to go
back to the grocery store and buy a whole new basket of berries, blue
berries and goooseberries and he was so excited when I put some down
for him to munch on.
Is this normal? Is he missing soemthing in his diet? I've never heard
of a cat going nuts over blueberries before. Is this healthy for him?
Thanks, Jacquie

Some cats really like fruit. I haven't heard of blueberries having anything
bad for a cat. But raisins and grapes are no nos. You might see if he likes
a table of blueberry flavored yogurt. That would be good for him too.

My cat Nickleby always liked dried apricots. He would just go ape when I
opened up the bag -- they were his favorite treat.
I wouldn't worry about it. They just all have their own special quirks.

No, that is not normal at all. Normally they wait until you go buy
more blueberries and then ignore them.

Try giving the cat some finely chopped Kosher pickles.

One of our cats, "Fission", thought the greatest treat
in the world was to sit with my wife in the morning and
share the blueberries from a blueberry muffin.
If your cat has the same tastes as "Fiz", don't let
him anywhere near anything chocolate.
