This week we finished the "build-up" phase of the shots. Every
other day of increasing doses, then the formula changes, build that
up, then the final serum mix that he will have weekly until who-
knows-when. He did very well on so many shots. He caught on early
when it was time for a shot, but they gave me tiny needles and as
long as I could inject it smoothly with him on my lap getting a
massage, it didn't bother him. Only one incident where the needle
went through to the other side and the serum ended up on his fur,
so not so bad. Hard to give a second injection when that happened,
but that one was a small dose.
The lesions that he had at the May 2 appt haven't completely gone
away with the one Depo shot, and I talked with his regular vet
about getting another one before the two month interval rolls
around (the normal period when the Depo effects would run out) and
she will give him another before then, but since it isn't getting
any worse, I'm trying to hold out, but watching him to make sure he
isn't totally miserable. Looking back at the three year history of
this, and even though his inhalent allergens are around year round,
its no wonder that spring is when he's at his worst (pollens, mold
and dust mites). The fact that the lesions aren't any worse is
encouraging. I'll probably have him in for a Depo shot before 2
months from the last so it'll be longer before we know if the
allergy shots are working.
He's now he's on weekly shots on Sundays. Air ducts are being done
a week from Saturday. Vaccuming is done 3x per week whether it
looks like it needs it or not. He's forcing me to be a better
housekeeper. LOL Eh, I need to just hire someone to do it. :)

Considering he used to get much worse, that is encouraging. I'm sure you
won't know about the allergy shots for sometime yet. How is he acting? Less
agressive?

Yes, Karen! The Clomicalm is working miracles. We're cursed with
two issues that may or may not be related, but working through it.
I'm decreasing his dose to wean him off it. Now that Bonnie is back
out and about, I think she is the instigator. She gets right in his
face at feeding times. I've never noticed her like that before, but
she's probably the cause of his aggression in addition to his skin
itchies. Even if the blame was all hers, calming Shamrock down is
helping her to come back out and not be so nervous around him. He
still runs off chasing her, but the difference now is that she
comes right back out when he doesn't follow her under the bed. It's
so funny; Rhett chases her as much as Shamrock does, but she
doesn't react in the same way toward him. Maybe because she knew
him as a tiny kitten?

I hope this works for Shamrock and he can be allergy free at some point!
I'm sure he will feel much, much better :)

Yay, Shamrock! Glad the worst of the shots is over. I hear people talk
about how much less they have to dust after they clean the air ducts,
so there's a plus for you, too. Hope the results are very noticeable
very soon.
