Neil (11 yrs old) is looking like hes got a tumour. Further blood tests
and x-rays/scans today will possibly confirm this.

Vet has mentioned chemo as a possibility. But apparently theres issues
with a young toddler in the house.

Although vet mentioned prednisalone (steroid aint it ?)....

Anybody got any info ?

I recommend that you go to the Yahoo cancer group,
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/feline-cancer/
and ask your question there.  My Mario is only on the oral chemo drug
Leukeran.  Prednisalone is also frequently given but is mostly palliative
vice curative.

My late cat Emily, who had lymphoma, was on prednisolone alone, no
chemo.  It bought her some extra quality time (a few months) and it can
be helpful in reducing inflammation and promoting a general sense of
well-being but, I agree, it is primarily palliative.  It is also often
given in conjunction with chemo.

Not that not having the treatment for Neil (my cat) is ever going to be
a choice I'd take but I was wondering how much chemo treatment costs
(roughly).

Our other cat, Kevin, already taked heart tablets and that costs £55
every 3 months, so its all getting a bit expensive now....

My Mario is on the oral chemo drug Leukeran.  He gets it M,W&F.  It costs
about $95 for 40 pills.
