Hello--

I recently adopted three cats from the local humane society.  I was told
that they were current on all their shots.  Come to find out they only got
one shot--and those were due and none of the other shots like rabies,
Feline Luk., etc.

A lady that has several cats for years and years--she has a special breed
but I forget the name--says that she has never given her cats any shots
since they are strictly indoor and since they have no chance of coming in
contact with outside or other cats.  She said all of her cats have always
been healthy and never any issues besides one having allergies or issues
when they reach old age.  I asked her about flea treatments and that new
Revolution one--she said she does no type of treatments, supplements, etc.
and that all of her cats are healthy.

Also, all my cats had ear mites coming from the humane society--what is a
natural treatment for this?  I seem to recall on my previous cats I used
olive oil for 3-4 days and cleared up.  One of my new cats I tried to swab
out the ear to get some of the gunk out--but wasn't sure how deep to go.  I
had to hold him down and pull the ear back with one hand--so this sort of
closed everything up and I wasn't at a good position to clean them.  I saw
in a thread here that someone mention regular ear care for your cats--what
is this?

Apparently I need to buy a book. ;-P~~

I had cats previously who were healthy and beautiful cats--and I didn't
really do that much for them besides get their shots and an occassional
bath.  They were healthy, active, and no medical issues.  I didn't do any
flea treatments--etc.

Thanks,
Jen

Olive oil for 3-4 days could not possibly clear up an ear mite
infestation. I wouldn't screw around with "natural" remedies. Get an
effective medication from your vet. Ear mites are miserable for the
cat.
